G'Day Fella's,

Not to sure if this issue has been been addressed before?
Anyway, who owns what.
Please find an image of my two big bores;
A Ruger M77 MkII in .375 H&H Mag and a custom built Browning Safari actioned rife in .404 Jeffery (all the metal and wood work, was done by the Melbourne, Australia master, Ross Waghorn)!

Doh!
Homer

Very nice bunch of rifles! Man, you are well equipped for worldwide hunting right there buddy! That Jeffrey is very cool!

Very nice, Homer. Since it can't be considered "big bore" until it is over .375, I have no pictures to post. I have a near "big bore" in my 9.3X64, however.

I reckon that is the best I'm going to do on this thread.

My biggest buck with my 375R African. Shooting 260 gr AB. 257 yards.

My first Spike taken with the same load and rifle. Little bugger was charging me  Shot was 20-30 yards and closing! Dumped him in his tracks.

There's a surprising number of us here who have some sort of medium or big bore rifle; 9.3's, .375's, .416's, and various .45 cal rifles. Homer, the .45/70 Marlin lever action is very popular here, and can be loaded to pack quite a punch. Those .45 cal Marlins are terrific for modest range hunting of any North American game.

I've only got two rifles over .30 cal, a .50 caliber traditional muzzle loader, and a .375 H&H Ruger Number One that I've carried while bear and elk hunting.

I've no real need for the .375, but I sure like it!

Thanks, Guy.

I need to get mine a nice bear like yours. It doesn't get the field time that it should.

Guy,

I had hoped to use the Brenneke to tag an elk and/or a black bear this past season. As luck would have it, that didn't happen. It did, however, drop a fine young whitetail buck. That 250 grain AB didn't bounce off his hide. I think it'll work for me.

Mike, the Brenneke has always had my attention. Yours is a fine looking rifle. I was really hoping you would get to pop an elk or bear with it. I wanted to hear how it worked. Sounds like it does ok for deer. I bet not many poeple in many hunting camps carry a Brenneke, that is work a lot also.

It will accompany me this coming spring for black bear (and possibly grizzly). I have no doubt that it will work very well on these bruins.

Homer, I'm a little jealous of the Jeffery. I have an M70 .300 RUM that I bought expressly as a donor for a .404 project, I just need to get it started. I do have a CZ .416 Rigby, and I hope to pick up M70s in .375 H&H and .416 Remington. The ultimate find would be a Custom Shop NH Safari in .470 Capstick...

I have a .375-.358STA, a .375RUM, a .416 Rem, and a .458Lott built. I have others in the works but nothing completed. I have a .375 Kreiger barrel that will either be a .375-.338 Lapua Imp or a .375 Snipetac, a .458 McGowen barrel for a Mark X mauser action I have that will be another Lott, and a .50 McGowen barrel that will be a .500 A-Square. I have to try and keep up with my buddy. He has a .500 A-Square, a .500 Weatherby, and is building a .460 Weatherby

G'Day Fella's,

Dr Mike, there are enough gun laws and other rules that we already have to deal with, the last thing I'll be doing, is bad mouthing anybody for showing us another great rifle! The 9.3 x 64 definitely fits into that category!!!
Guy, I firmly believe everybody needs at least one .375 H&H Mag (or similar)!!!

Doh!
Homer

My current big bore consist of a Marlin 1895 Guide in 45-70.
That is going to be changing very soon with the addition of a true big bore.

Appreciate the absolution. In light of varied twists in the game of life, I don't see acquiring a true big bore in the immediate future.

Nice Guy! ..I have the #1 too in .375 H&H, man I truely love it..It's a real pleasure to shoot too!..It's a very well balanced rifle, and felt recoil is like shooting a light 30-06   ..Although my .270WSM is my absoulute favourite rifle, I look forward to getting my ruger #1 .375 H&H blooded in 2013  ..Lou
