Looking to cut one down and add a limbsaver and a high Comb. Any shape is fine as long as its not obviously cracked. AND ITS CHEAP. Let me know if you got one laying around. Thanks CL

I have a black synthetic butt stock taken from a mossberg 590... Are they interchangeable with the 500's?

From what I am told they are. The hard part might be shorting the LOP and finding a way to refit a limbsaver. It can be done but wood makes that easier. PM me with what youd like to get for it, if you like. CL

Dang!!! just saw the original posting date of Sep 2013... You have been waiting!

Let me dig it out of storage and see what I can see/think of that may help. How many inches do you think you'll chop off?

I'll send a PM tomorrow once I get it out of storage.

Look ing to shorten about the depth of the factory pad and then add a limbsaver. So about 2X the depth of the pad would need to be removed. Will make final decision on length with scope in place. Thanks for checking but don't work to hard at it...
Budget is awful slim and would hate see ygo to. Lot of work. Looking for a less than 20 buck item. If that's not what you have, its OK. I will give it some thought. Shortening a synthetic that much could ruin the stock altogether. Don't know.... Thanks though for effort CL

I think I can work with that... Can you cover the shipping of your choice? I Still need to get into the attic- wasn't where I thought it was so I have to dig a little deeper. If you don't mind, I'd like to show you what I did to mine that may be what your after... But it was ~$150 investment. 70% recoil reduction, with a collapsible stock.

So, it's not as short as I thought it was, but here is the 590 outfitted with Mesa tactical stock adapter, hydraulic buffer, and magpul collapsible stock. I tried without the hydraulic buffer and left with a bruised shoulder after 5 rounds of birdshot. Was t at all comfortable.

Wyo2000- why don't you hold off on finding that stock- the more I think about it the less I want to try and fill in and cut off a synthetic. Your set up sure enough looks like the ticket. how/where does the recoil buffer fit into things? Honestly, I looked at an ATI stock but the nerve damage in my hands makes the pistol grip problematic. Seems to slam those carpal nerves just wrong. Again, thanks for looking but I think Ill pass on a synthetic. CL

No problem- that stock in the picture is it. I hear ya about the hand grip... Those five shots without the buffer killed my hand too. When I lived in California, I picked up one of those rifle grips to make my ar-15 legal. Didn't use it, and may be a good angle for your needs.

Here is a link to that "rifle" style hand grip I was talking about above.

The hydraulic buffer looks like, and acts like an AR-15 buffer tube. It compresses between the rifle and the shoulder pad. Pretty slick and very effective at reducing the punch of the 12 gauge. In fact, it feels kind of weird because you register a mild recoil and you wonder if the round was a dud.

Here is the hydraulic buffer- I got mine on sale for $100 though:
