There's a .257 Roberts posted for sale locally but the seller, and I, isn't sure who the manufacturer is. Looks almost like something for/from the Venezuelan army. Anyone have any idea? I figured someone around on here would for sure know.

Well there's good news and bad news so it would depend on the price. The good news is it has an FN M98 action. No idea on the condition of the barrel. Stock appears to be a modified military. The Bolt handle has been replaced to clear a scope. The trigger guard has been banged against something deforming it a bit. If the action isn't too rough it might be worth it for that alone should the rest be not all that good. A good clean FN action around here will run from $300 to as much as $450 depending on who's selling it and condition. I have three nice ones and I would ask top dollar for mine as they are very very clean. (as new) Too bad the pictures were not a bit clearer. Would have made my answer more definite. Still, the .257 Bob is a good round and the rifle would make a good knockabout gun or loaner.
I would examine very closely though before committing any money.

Edited to: It looks like it might also have an aftermarket trigger. That would be a plus.

Thanks Paul. I was pretty sure it was a Mauser but wasn't sure what model. He's taking a bunch more pics for me at the moment so I can post some more in a bit. He wants $450 for it including the scope, Vari-X 2, so it may be a decent deal.

These are the only other pics I could get from him. Looks a little beat up.

Last pic of the seal stamped in it. Looks like it says 1869 on it.

I think it's a M24/30.
Google Venezuelan M24/30 and you should get lots of info. Original chambering was 7mm Mauser (7x57) if I'm not mistaken.
