I am putting this in the Rifles section, why, well, what else would I have on my Christmas List. But really, if you all could have one "thing" for Christmas, what would it be. This is what I want. I know I won't get it for Christmas, but I figure I have a few more left..

That is lovely, Scotty. It would be a great addition for any home. I have to say that my tastes are turning to simple things this year. I'd love to have my family all together in one place for Christmas this year. I'd love to continue to be blessed with good friends who are honest enough to hold me accountable when I'm failing and who are yet willing to be silent when I need some space. I reckon I have the latter, and I'll see whether the former isn't possible.

I wonder what that would go for.....

No idea.. but if the bolt has truly never been put in that rifle, some Model 70 crazy will run it up pretty high I bet. I would just use it to hunt bears anyhow, so a few scratches, make the initial wear and tear easier on my wallet!

I do not know but for me the pre-64's were ok but not the Gods that some make them out to be. I would rather have a new 264 Winnie than a pre 64 model.

Different strokes I guess.

Hey, if we're dreaming, there are a few new M70s I'd like...
.257 Bob Featherweight
.264 Sporter
.338 Sporter or EW

If we're really dreaming, a job that takes me around the Western US during the fall with lots of free time... even just Alaska and Montana would work...

Yeah, I am with you Fotis. I thought the same till I got the "bug". I like them all actually, but the older ones have alot of character and the fact they were put together under the old ways, with much less machine work means a little extra to me. Plus, they seem like their lockup and actions are unreal smooth. I am not trading off any of my newer M70's, but I am keeping my eye out for a couple of the older Pre64's.

Nice call on that NIB 375 Scotty....

I would be one of those nuts who would absolutley love to be the first person to insert that bolt into that 61 year old gun and feel the power of the gods come down and fill me with invulnerbility.

And I would use it as well.

Although I do have to admit I wouldn't mind branching out with a couple different manufacturers. When I was looking at that Sako AV in .280 I have to admit the action was very smooth and felt great. Too bad it had an aftermarket unknown barrel.

Scotty, I would be happy if our daughters, my husband and I were all on the same continent at the same time. I am also attempting to negotiate the purchase of a flat-side 1866 Winchester/Henry for Jerry, for his collection, which I was hoping to surprise him with at Christmas, but it is not going well.

I also would be happy if all you guys got the gun you have wished for on this thread--

Christmas in Africa... how cool would that be?

Hope everything works out for you and Jerry, A.
