She is a real gem. Congratulations on a thoughtful lady and on the acquisition of a great rifle.

Wow, that is a nice Marlin and "Made In New Haven" as well. My wife would never know about that! Your wife did great by you with a wonderful gift!

Awesome rifle Jake! That's awesome buddy. Great wife and very good shopping skills!

It looks very nice! You will love it, I have really enjoyed mine. She did well!!

Thanks guys. I'm very excited about getting this thing up and runnig. A buddy of mine has a friend that is building bullets. He said something about he bought a press from cor-bon? I'm not sure, but either way I have a bunch of 350gr bullets on the way to play with. Most of my reloading stuff should be here in a day or two, but I forgot to order a shell plate :x So it might be next week before I can shoot it.

Excellent!

I think you owe her...

Agreed! I told her that she made my nice flowers, card, and really nice dinner look pretty bla. I couldn't be happier with her, or the rifle.

I'd say she definitely knows the way to her man's heart. What is that old saying, "The way to a man's heart is with a gun?"

What kind of bases and rings are you guys using with your lever guns? I'm looking at eventuallt putting a 1.25-4 VXR on it.

I used a 2.5x Leupold compact on the Leupold mount & rings. Worked out real well, with lots of eyebrow/forehead clearance for the heavy loads.

Made for a pretty good hunting setup I thought.

Sweet! I can't get my wife to buy me any guns, but at least shell okay my purchases pretty easily.

Awesome. Prepare for some power there! Good for you bud!

Here is mine, since I have thinned the rifle herd I am thinking of moving my 1.5 X 5 from the Whelen to the 45/70, and puting on a 2.5 X 8 on the Whelen. I may have a clearence poblem with a Variable on the 45/70 however. I hate messing with stuff that already works.

The scope changes you suggest seem eminently reasonable to me, Bill. The ol' Marlin looks pretty skookum from up here; I sure wouldn't be ashamed to carry it.

Sounds logical to me, Bill. I put my 1.5-5x20 scope on my 9.3x74R for the same reason. When I sold the .340 Weathery, it caused me to do a scope shuffle but it is done nowand I am happier with the shuffle of three scopes, plus selling some closet scopes that I don't use anymore. The herd is much leaner now!
