Creedmore and I got some trigger time at the club today.
Shooting the 700 22-250 with the 1/8 Kreiger barrel at the 200 yard line.

The original load with the 77 SMK was so so.
Had the same load: 36 grs H4831SC topped with a 75 AMax
Didn't adjust the seating stem, just loaded 'em.
OAL was a tad longer.
I didn't shoot this group, my buddy Mark (RedGun) did.
I was in the loading room working on a 308 target load.
The result

Since SPS had the 80 gr CCs as over runs a week or so ago I had to try them too.
Again, same load, didn't adjust seating stem in the die.Just shot 'em.
OAL was about .045 shorter than the AMax loads
First 5 at 200 yards

Back to the loading room and duplicated the 80 gr CC load.
Had to try it again.
Shot #4 was all me.
Screwed up a perfectly fantastic group.

Think I'm set.
Also think this rifle is gonna get some better glass.
That $100.00 Vortex Crossfireworks but.....

Oh and FTR ?
It was about 76 here in Dallas today.
5 mile an hour winds from the NW.
A beautiful day to be at the range with a couple of good friends.

Wow - pretty doggone good 200 yard groups.

I like those fast-twist barrels!

Howard,

Very nice groups, way to go.
and to think playing with the col might make those groups even better!

Why so many manufacturers stick to 1in12/14 twist with this cartridge is beyond me.

Those loads look good! Never heard of anyone using H4831 in the 22-250. Sitting on the edge here about your velocities.

Dang Howard, that is exactly what I have always wanted! A 1-8 twisted 22-250! Talk about a fun rifle and with the ability to sling them bigger bullets, it would be a TON of fun!

Great shooting buddy! Looks like you have a serious shooter on your hands...

We chronied it with the 77 SMKs at 2950.
Did not shoot through the chrony yesterday as we were just trying to see if it would group well with different bullets. I have not been able to find any 77 SMKs so was looking for a substitute.
Creedmore's dad hooked me up though, gave me a 500 count box of the 77 SMKs.
I'm not seeing any pressure signs and probably can increase powder charge and play with seating depth as well if I really want to.....

And FTR? I did shoot the two groups with the Nosler CCs. Mark shot the group with the AMax's.

Very nice. That's a totally different list of powders than what is normally envisioned for that cartridge when it is hamstrung with the slower twist rates. Those long. hi-BC bullets definitely brings the 22-250 back into the long range arena.

That's awesome Howard. Looks like QL is running pretty close to true numbers, so yup, looks like you have plenty of room to increase charge weight..

Mike,

some shooters cain't hit the "dime" or even a dollar-bill, you's truely included in that group. A lot of my shots even come-down in the adjacent zip-code, but we keep on atryin' !

Looks as though HTD is gettin' 'er dialed-in pretty good.

That is more that fair at 200 yards. Once you adjust the seating it will be even better

Blessings,
Dan
