Figured here in hunting season guys might want to show off or discuss what they've got and why... Here's mine:

.204 Ruger CZ American w/4-12x Leupold - varmints!

.25-06 Rem 700 CDL w/4.5-14x Leuopld - deer, coyotes (so far)

.308 Win in Rem 700 varminter - custom job for precision shooting. Everything from varmints to mulies.

.30-06 1917 (by Win) a sentimental favorite and a good mid-range general purpose/bad weather hunting rifle for pretty much anything. Fixed 4x Leupold and usually loaded with 165 Nosler Partitions.

.300 WSM, Win Model 70 Coyote - new to me and a very, very accurate shooter. Intended for longer range hunting situations on mule deer, black bear and elk. Laminated stock, a 1 lb Jewell trigger. Currently topped by a simple 6x Leupold - but may go to something w/more magnification and target turrets in the future. It really likes those 190 grain Berger VLD bullets.

.45-70 Marlin 1895 - with a 2.5x Leupold compact. For pretty much anything at modest range. Only one mulie with it so far.

What's in your gunsafe?

Well, here is my short list. Its short because I cannot afford to accumulate as my tastes are on the expensive side (to me this is expensive). And it took about 10 years of trading up etc... just to get these. In fact all were bought used except the Encore.

22-250 LSVF Remington with 3x9x40 Zeiss Conquest.
7-30 Waters Contender pistol with 2x6 Bushnell and Georgia Jim furniture
308 Sako with 3.5x10x50 Zeiss Conquest
280 Sako with 3x9x40 Zeiss Conquest
209x50 Encore muzzleloader with 3x9x40 Bushnell 3200
Pre-64 Marlin 30-30 unscoped.

Of course, if you have boys you have to get them going so I have gotten both my boys the Sakos of their choice in 30-06 and 270. Yep, no more guns for me unless it is a trade etc... And I think I am pretty much content with these.

Lefty315,
That is an impresive list but, the topic is hunting rifles.
Can you detect a hint of jealousy???
You have a few that I would like.

 Sorry, take away the shotguns but leave the rifle barrels for the single shots. Guy did not specify big game or small game. The worse part is I have an itch for a .280. If I have any more itches I will need another safe.

Rem SPS in 243 (85 BT & 100 SB)

Rem 700 Thumbhole in 300RUM (200AB)
Browning SS Stalker in 338WM (225AB)
Ruger Sup Redhawk in 44mag(300gn Sporting)

Thinking of getting a 338RUM (250AB) or a 375RUM or H&H (300AB)

Here is my REAL LONG complicated list!.............Ruger M77 MK2 Frontier compact; 16.5" barrel 300 WSM, w/3X9 Bushnell Elite 4200 mounted conventionally and a second scope; a 2.5X8 EER UCC Nikon Monarch used as a scout scope mounted on the barrel.................Sidearm; S&W 500 w/4" barrel, which the above Nikon scope can also be mounted on (dual purpose)................Chrono`d from the 16.5" 300 WSM; 200gr. Nosler A/B @2828 fps........180 gr. Nosler A/B @2994 fps.........150 gr. Sierra Gameking @ 3155 fps. Good enough for any N/A big game!..................Will soon need a .375 for `09 African trip. Probably go with the .375 RUM

Big Squeeze, I have one thing to say. Beware the man with just one rifle, he may know how to use it. Glad to see someone else is using the 200 grain AccuBond. I use it out of my Kimber and you are getting about 25 fps more than I am. Amazing for the short barrel. What's your load?

Lefty315.............Other than being a shorter, light weight, easy to carry, quick handling and quick acquistion to the target rifle, the other reason I bought this Ruger was mainly due in part to an article which is still on line at,,,,shootingtimes.com,,,,under "long guns", 2nd page, entitled "Short Answer about Scout Styled Rifles."...........There within that article, Dick Metcalf along with this rifle`s virtues, discusses the small percentage of velocity loss with the 16.5" barrel vs. the 24" tubes...... His chrono findings with his 7MM/08 test rifle, also collaborate with my chrono results from my 300 WSM, which is only a 4.5% loss in velocity. In certain loads from my rifle, I have even reduced that percentage lower................My original load info came from the "reloaders nest" site under 300 WSM rifle loads using the 200 gr. bullets. That load I copied, in materials and dimensions, showed using a 200gr. A/B from a 24" barrel which was chrono`d at 2930 fps. using 68gr. of RL19. I carefully worked up to a 69 grain maximum of RL19, then chrono`d that load. 69.5 grains was showing pressure signs!..........2930 fps. from his 24" tube less 4.5% in velocity for the shorter barrel= 2798 fps. At 69 grains of RL19, my average chrono results for the 200 gr. A/B were at 2828 fps. with 3 shot groupings of 1.20" or less!...........Had I maintained that 68 gr. load, and chrono`d it, I more than likely would have been very close to the 2798 fps. figure. That falls right in line with only a 4.5% velocity reduction vs. the 24" barrels!!!.................With performance that well exceeds the 30-06, I love my little boomin compact, especially when I can carry it by the pistol grip, my arm at my side, with the muzzle not even close to touching the ground.............Like your Kimber, the Frontiers are great hunting rifles!

Here is my list.

-Savage Weather Warrior 270WSM
-Savage Youth Model 7MM-08 (really my wifes gun but I have found myself shooting it more than her.
-Remington 700 ADL in a 30-06. This is my Dad's old gun that he bought brand new back in the mid 60's. I remember as a kid Dad getting this gun out right before deer season to clean and shoot it. I was facinated by it.
-Winchester 94 1969 Golden Spike edition, 30-30. My Grandfather won this gun in a raffle and then years later gave it to me when I got my eagle scout award.
-Remington .22 Auto

Hmmm, I am like #7. I have traded sold, and bought. Ended up with a pre 64 model 70 winchester in 264 with vx-1 3-9X40
CZ550 varmint in 308 with 20X leupold target scope
Jap Wby MkV deluxe(I think) 300 wby with VXIII 3.5-10X40(trying to sell)
American Wby mkV Accumark in 30-378 with a fixed 10X 3200 Elite

I want to sell the 300 bee since the 30-378 is better and simply more of the same, a ultra velocity barrel eating .308 mag.

Would like to go to a 7mm Ultra, 338 Ultra sendero or a 338 edge customm rig for a little better reach than the 30-378. I would aslo like to try a 378, but doubt that it would be useful since the bigger 338's just offer way more range.

I use Retumbo with 120 BT's and 7828 with 140 Partition's in the 264 and 180 BT's in the 308 with 4064. The meat deer(doe tag) I shot in the throat this year had a 3X5 inch exit hole where the 264 smoked it, the bullet inflicted a VERY mortal blow, dead in it's tracks.
