My barrel is being shipped from Pac-Nor a #3 stainless super match 1:10 three groove in .338! I don't know how long it will be now before my smith screws together my new .338-06 M70 SS CRF and beds it in my McMillan Edge stock but hopefully I'll have it by summer to work on load development. I think I'm going with a VX3 2.5-8X36 on it but I'm trying to decide if I want CDS dials or not though that 1.5-8 Minox is looking pretty tempting.

I got a couple of their barrels and am a big fan of pacnor. Your build sounds awesome and you should have a great rifle put together. Post some pictures when it is complete. Colorado have a spring bear season? Would be a great way to break that rifle in once it was assembled.

Congrats on the new barrel. The 338-06 is a good round. The 210 gr PT makes it suitable for everything from mice to moose.

Good for you buddy. Can't complain about the quality. My 280AI is sub .1 inch gun at 100yds and my 338-06AI is a sub MOA and its been too dang cold to do much work with it. Right now I'm at 2900 with 200 gr bullets and still no pressure signs and I'm thinking I can push another 2 grains in it.

This will make my second. 338-06, I don't quite get 2900 out of the 200 grain bullets in my current rifle but 2880 is close enough. RL15 has been my go to powder for the rifle so far, and I'm thinking it is a good place to start again. I have some 185 grain AB's, I'm wondering what speed I can get out of those. The should have a better BC as well than my Hornady's my current rifle likes. However, I'm thinking that either the 200 or 225 will be the bullet of choice for my new rifle.
