Rifle Magazine this month has an article on the Talkeetna .375 H&H by Kimber. Kevlar stock, 24" stainless bbl., glass bedded, sights, 8# in wt. MSRP= $2175. Looks to be a heavy hitter.

Also there is a nice article on the .280 Remington cartridge.

The 375 Ruger has impressed me as a reasonably accurate cartridge that approximates 375 H&H velocities. Were I building a new heavy rifle, I believe it would receive consideration.

I love the Talkeetna. I keep considering one. I almost went with one several years ago and found a Ruger Alaskan with only a couple boxes down the tube for a price too low to mention. It shot sub MOA with Hornady 300gr RN factory loads.

Kept considering a Talkeetna but last year I got the chance to trade a Tikka T3 for another Alaskan in similar condition+200rds of ammo+ 50rds of once fired+ 50rds of new brass+ a Nikon scope. Yeah, I took that deal and it shoots sub MOA with Barnes 300gr TSX.

As much as I like the Kimber I find it hard to swallow the price- especially since I've got less than $1000 in TWO slightly used Ruger Alaskans, scope and a ton of ammo.

The only thing I don't like about the AK is that Hogue stock.

American Rifleman or American Hunter ran a test on the .375 H&H Kimber Talkeetna a couple of years ago. I've still got it around here somewhere I think.

The writer was very impressed with the accuracy, overall quality, and good handling of that rifle. It's apparently a very well thought-out and well built medium bore, perfect for hunting, no matter what the weather.

Seems to me the author was able to do some solid one-MOA shooting, even with 300 gr ammo.
