So I had an accurate load using 220 grain Sierra Round Nose and H450 ball powder. Misc. components I had inherited. 3 shot 1/2 to 3/4 inch groups running 2100 fps out of an 18" barrel.

So I was wondering if anyone has experience with 180 (AB or BT) or 208 (Amax) grain bullets and slow powders in the 308. Mine is 1 in 10 twist.

I have read a couple of instances of reloder17 but have no commercial load data. Anyone have success with that or have Quickload or other data?

Anyone tried the new slow ball powder Staball 6.5. It looks to be faster than the H450 so might work?

This gun also likes 760 with 150 grain AB's. Seems like slow ball powder all the way around.

I used Varget, 760, RL15. I preferred Varget, I could get about 2550 FPS with 180 Partitions at about max load, I think I was about 43 grains when I quit going up. Didn’t push it to pressure signs.

TAC and MR2000 are pretty impressive in the 308. I got 2750fps/Swift 165 AF/MR2000 from a 22" 308 Mod 700. thats 30-06 territory.
