I just got this rifle put together yesterday, I don't have a proper scope for it yet but I can't wait to shoot it. I'll put some pictures up when I get a chance to take some. It seems a well built and balanced rifle but there are a couple of things I don't like about it. The wrist and forend seem a little thick to me and the fluting on the barrel isn't all that. I'll admit I'm a little spoiled after handling my FWT .30-06 in McMillan Edge beside it.

Right now it is wearing a Vortex Viper 6.5-20X44 PA until I save my pennies to put a VX3 on it. The scope will work great I'm sure for sight in and load development but it is way to heavy and big on top of that rifle. I just haven't decided if it will get a 3.5-10 or 4.5-14 on it yet.

It doesn't compare to the svelteness of my .30-06 in the Edge!

That is a great rifle. It will be great to see your pictures when you are able to get them up. It all sounds good. Congratulations.

Yeah, the HS stock has a reputation for being a little clubby through the wrist. The only EW I have is a WSM, so maybe mine won't be so bad, but then again, I have some pretty good sized meat hooks for hands. Sounds like a pretty good rifle, I'm just sorry about the .270 thing...

I am loving my EW in 7wsm....get a trigger spring from errnie the gunsmith and it will drop your trigger pull about 1lb.

I've been looking very hard at an EW... in a .270 no less!

Seems like a very nice hunting rifle.

Everone says that but I haven't found a cartridge that will kill game any deader yet. ;)

I don't think I'll need to mess with the trigger, it feels like a 3-4 lb pull and it breaks clean with no creep. It seems to be about as good of a trigger as I'll need for hunting.

Just good natured grief, buddy. As Scotty says, I am "the hater of all things .270" despite owning five of them.

Funny Kurt I just got my third 270. They serve a really good purpose. As I have yet to shoot one. I have a 280 so I'm not gaining anything by having a 270. But they serve great as donor because I have no desire to shoot it one has become a 280AI the second a 338-06AI and the third will get a 6-284 tube on it. I would get an 06 for a donor but that's a scary proposition as I have a set of dies brass and bullets laying around.

A couple of mine will become something else. The 725 will remain unmolested, I'll shoot the Ti until I waste the barrel. The CroMo ADL will become a 6.5-06, the SS ADL will become a .338-06 (maybe AI), whe WSM will probably remain factory as well, until I burn it out as well. Who knows what I might do with it... Probably 6.5 WSM, .358 WSM, or .257 WSM, in that order.

I'm always on the lookout for another donor, and .270s seem to be most readily available. I do need to find some magnum bolt face donors... For a Mashburn, .358 Norma, .338-375, and .358-375 Rugers.

Congrats on the rifle Taylor, I really like the EW's alot. For a hard hunting rifle, I don't know of many that come in the quality the new M70 EW does. All I have shot or seen, have been excellent shooters.

The trigger's are pretty good on them, but after shooting tuned old style M70 triggers, I think I am going to try the Ernies the Gunsmith spring. Can't hurt to spend 6.00 on it.. I have spent more on crazier things.

I think the stocks are B&C Medalists though. I actually like the thicker part, since I have larger than average meat hooks.

Nice rifle for sure! A Leupy 3.5x10 "seems" like a natural to me.

Yup, that is what my buddy has on his 300WSM EW.. Seems like a Conquest 3-15 or 2-10HD would be slick as well..

Yep, a B&C stock I'm not sure it is the Medalist though. Might slip this one into an Edge as well in the future.

I have an fn stainless featherweight that proudly wears a Swarovski z3 3x10x42 in S&K rings and bases. Total package with sling weighs 8 lbs 2 oz sans ammo.

I can see the future through that scope!! that was for you Scotty.

I just can't get into the Conquest Scopes, I've looked through them but the Leupold weighs 5-6 oz lighter not that makes a whole lot of difference but it is the weight of a set of Talley LWT mounts. I can't tell a whole lot of difference between the optics on either, and I was thinking of going with a CDS dial on the Leupold as well.

Yep, your probably not going to go wrong there. Rifle looks great. They are some sleek rifles, made to hunt.
