This will be my first 280 rem, I have 260 rem, 270 win, 7-08's. Bullets and powders on hand are
R-26
R-19
R-17
MagPro
Hunter
4831 SC
139 SST
139 Hornady Interlock BTSP
140 PT
120 BT
Speer 130 BTSP
and the previous owner said he was shooting Hornady 154s. The 154 interbond and new 150 AB will most likely get a try.
I someone could give me some pointers, quickloads etc that would be awesome. I had to get it as years ago I let a Featherweight 270 win go and have regretted it, and the price was right in a great caliber.
thanks

I don't have Quickload but there is some data on the Quickload questions thread, here in the Reloading section. It is on page 9 about 3/4 down the page between 7-08 and 300 wsm. Posted by Dwh7271. Hope that helps.

I just bought a 280 last year and have worked up some good loads with 120g BT and RL17, 139g GMX and RL26, 160g PT and RL26. I just bought some 150g AB blems from SPS and hope to soon start working up a load with RL26.

RL 26 and RL 22 are going to be your best powders for velocity, and lower pressure, plus more than likely going to get you outstanding accuracy to boot.

I planned on using a 160 gr. bullet for an elk hunt using my .280 Rem. I looked in the Nosler manual and they showed Re22 as giving the top velocity with IMR 7828 a very close second place. The LGS had no Re22 so I got the 7828. I had no problem reach and slight surpassing the velocity in the Nosler book but accuracy flat out was dismal. I have a decent supply of Winchester's long discontinued WMR powder so gave that a try ending up with good velocity near 2900 FPS and 3/4" accuracy with the older style Speer Grand Slam bullet. I did try the 140 gr. Barnes TSX but my rifle didn't like it. I have a bunch of those Grand Slam bullets in the old version and the new.

My rifle is based on a 1909 Argentine Mauser by DWM, 24" barrel and a very nice piece of lumber for the stock. It came out a bit heavier than what I usually like but it's OK.

I got speed with R26/168 LRAB but no accuracy. 55gr of IMR4831/139 Hornady was my very first handload for my first .280!

26, 22, 7828, 4350, etc will all work. Anything that works in the 270 will work for the 280..

Good luck, can’t wait to see what you come up with.

I appreciate everyone’s input! What I looking for is 150 ballistic tip, 150 eldx, 154 interbond quickload data with R26. Thanks

I'm assuming a 280 , not a 280AI . I need to update my quiuckload , I don't have the ELDx . I'd say you can get by with this info though .
