My hand gun permit is finally done. I'll be getting the card in the mail this week. My wife's permit card came today, so she went and bought a Para P16-40 with a covert black finish. I'm not too sure why she wanted a double stack full frame 1911, but she can point it comfortably, so we'll see. Double stacks are not really worthwhile here in Canada with a 10 rnd max on legal mags. I'll post a range report on that after the weekend.

No, we are not allowed ot hunt with anything that has less than an 18.5" barrel. Not exactly sure what the logic is that make it illegal to hunt with them.

Well, put my permit to work and ended up with a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 7.5" blued with dragoon trigger guard and a Para LTC 9mm. My wife got a Para P16-40 in covert black.

Truthfully, I had a credit at the store where we got the 40 from a 308 CZ varmint that I decided could go as the 264 varmint shoots better.
The 44 and 9mm I found on canadiangunnutz.com classifieds, which have the odd good deal and some over priced stuff too.

So, the selling of a couple rifles and not buying for awhile paid off. Now I need to practice shooting handgun. These are the first I've owned and I am not terribly accurate with them right yet. The 44 is not too bad, but it dances a bit with the loads I use in my henry rifle, I'll talk group size when i can get them into single digit inches  and the 40 isn't any better. I've gotten lazy over the past few years and haven't shot iron sights except the Henry for a decade. And that wasn't at paper, just plinking.
