Just got my grandfather's 7mm mag. Traded with my cousin for a 20ga shotgun. It appears to have a mauser action, though I'm no expert. Has BNP with a crown, stamped on everything. Serial number is "MAG" and 5 digits. Barrel Stamped 7mm mag 2.50", Alpine Supreme, AD. Heller INC., Baldwin, NY. Barrel also stamped Firearms CO, England.

Anyone know what I have?

The 'BNP' is the Birmingham Nitro Proof mark.

The rifle sounds like an Alpine Supreme Custom Mauser, assembled in England, and imported by A. D. Heller Inc, of Baldwin NY (Long Island) .in the 1960's.

Cool, that was a fast response! Any idea of value, or rarity?

Tried to post pics. Keeps telling me file to big. Never had that problem before

I have the same issue.

Now back to our regular program.

I have no idea what you have, as Mausers aren't my thing but it sounds like George is spot on mate.

Cool. Anyone have hands on experience with these rifles?

Experience with these rifles?. Well..it´s a Mauser actioned rifle in 7mmRem Mag with a wooden stock. The question could have been: " Does anyone have experience with a Mauser in 7mmRem mag with a wooden stock?"..Or. " Does anyoe has experience with a 7mmRemMag from a Mauser platform?". The short answer is "Yes" I have experience. The Mauser98 action a good action(used it a lot) and 7mmRemmag is a good longrange caliber(used that to some extent). Regardless of what name(almost) is says on the barrel/action..it´s a Mauser98 in 7mmRemMag in a wooden stock.

I'd say you scored. It looks like a great rifle. Love the 7mm Rem Mag and the Mauser is just cool. Clean the barrel up real good and let's see what it does. Chances are you just inherited a sweet big game rifle. Just hard to beat the 7mm Rem Mag. Loaded up with 160-175 PTs it has all the power you'd need for elk or deer a long way out!

Way to go. Congrats on the rifle. Hope you show it some love.

Scotty, the finish is pealing off so I think I'm going to redo it. Barrel is super clean. I ran a patch through it and it was almost white! It was my grandfathers gun so I'll definitely take care of it. My first Mauser!

Was wondering if anyone had experience with the same maker. Any moron can slap a barrel on a mauser action and call it a custom. Was wondering if they were a trusted company or a hack shop.

I am not sure about the manufacturer but I think it is very cool that you have
obtained a rifle that belonged to your grandfather  congratulations!!!
The 7mm mag. is a great calibre that I am sure you will enjoy!

Blessings,
Dan

That rifle looks very similar to me, to the BSA CF2 Mauser bolt action. BSA made many Mauser type actions back in the 1970's and before that were the basis for many British Mauser type rifles sold under various trade names and made by or resold by various company's in GB. You rifle appear very similar to the BSA or Whitworth actions made and sold by BSA under various trade names including Interarms and BSA.

It was built by The Firearms Co. Ltd. of Bridgwater, England, not BSA or Parker Hale.

My Dad has a rifle that look exactly like that one. His is a 30-06, but it was made by Parker Hale. I think he picked it up when he was a kid back in the 60's. I'll have to go over and look at it closer and see if there are any other identification marks on it.
