My wife filled her cow elk tag this year using my 300WSM. She realized she can handle more recoil then her 243 win. I've been wanting her to try something else but she just wasn't interested until now. After much looking on-line she was interested in the Savage Lady Hunter. Mostly for fit. I said let's try one.

Sold her Rem Mod 7 SS Camo 243 to a friend who has a daughter turning 12 this year. It would be a perfect gun to start with on coyotes and whitetails.

We ordered the Lady Hunter after seeing it on YouTube and all the changes made to the stock to fit women. Mostly about the narrow grip and it being closer to the trigger (small hands). We ordered a 7mm-08. I ordered 4 bags of 140 PT from SPS and I'll get some brass and lets see what happens. I'm trying a Vortex Viper 2x7 for a scope on it.

I will bet that she will be happy with that combination. The 08 is a fine cartridge and will do nicely if not streached out to far. Sounds like a good combination especially when she already has some elk meat to go with it. !!!

It sounds as if you've made a wise selection for your good lady, Teknys. I believe she will be more than pleased with that rifle. It is good to see thought being put into the design of some rifles to fit smaller frames and smaller hands. The more ladies join the hunting/shooting sports, the more secure will be the sport.

A very efficient platform, the 7mm-08 paired with 140gr bullets, you've chosen. Hopefully your sweetie likes her new rifle and it shoots like every Savage I've seen.

I've been trying for years to get a new rifle for my wife........ seems most guys know that'd be a poor trade.

The 7mm-08 should be a capable riffle for your wife's needs. Manageable recoil, good accuracy and decent ballistics should help her graduate from the .243 to a more capable platform. I hope that the rifle fit her and meets her needs.

Easy, Kurt, I have tried that and it is expensive!

Yeah, it's getting that way, Charlie. I'm probably going to have to start selling off guns pretty soon.

I sure hope that things will work out for you on the job front. Now that the holidays are nearly past, company's will start hiring again soon and things will pick up. We are all praying for you, hang in there.

Very sweet! That should be a nice rifle for the wife. I have a feeling I will get a little 7-08 for my daughter when she is a little older....
