OK your Dream build????????????

Dream rifle for what??? most of my hunting???? After many many years and
lots of rifles and calibers, custom and wildcats for my whitetail hunting would be a
Remy 700 custom, jewell trigger, high tech-sheep hunter stock, lilja #2 barrel cut to
22in, talley lightweight, leupold 2.5x8scope, and all cerakoted, cal.- .308
and my dream rifle a David miller custom, maybe a Heym,Merkel, HH or Biesen rifles.
Difficult decision.

1886 Winchester in .50/110Ex. 26inch barrel, 2/3magazine, 4leaf express sights, round barrel,
Pistolgrip, shotgun butt.

Why do want One?. Because I had one
Very similiar with P.ORR MADRAS on. I have regretted
ever selling it ever Sincé.

That does sound very unique~

I've been thinking about a couple of fairly similar tacticool builds...

6.5x47 and .338 Edge
McMillan A3s or A5s
Defiance Deviant and Rebel actions
unsure on bottom metal, but want DBM
Jewell triggers
26" on the 6.5, 28" on the .338 (with a brake on the biggun) maybe Remington Varmint/Sendero or heavier contour, fluted, maybe Kreiger or Rock
Seekins or Badger Picatinny rings
NF 5.5-22x50 (a couple of S&B PM IIs would be spectacular, but Uncle Powerball has to come through for me to be able to afford two of them)

Easy one, not a build but an accuracy international ax modular 308, 300 win 338 lapua. 15k and your in business. Someday perhaps until then i will have to make due with my DTA SRS.

I will take your Desert Tactical as my dream rifle when you get that AI Axe

Not as pricey or specific as some, but I want to take one of my M70's in 30-06 (I have two, one a Classic "DBM" model, the other a pre64 in "non-collectible" condition, but still a decent looking rifle that represents the pre64 M70 well) and have it rebarreled into a 35 Whelen or a 338-06. Probably leaning toward the Whelen.

Right now, my inclination is to the Classic being built upon.....have a new barrel installed, and trash the Tupperware stock it came in. I bedded and pillared it just to learn how on a stock I would not cry about if I ruined. The thought I have is to rebarrel, then have it put in a McWoody "SuperGrade" pattern stock (pillared and bedded), Williams bottom metal, and of course have the action trued/lugs lapped while it's all apart. If we're going gang-busters, have the trigger honed and refined, but keeping the "old style" M70 trigger in place.

I'd probably also remove the Leupold STD bases and rings from it and go with Talley lightweights like I have on my 300WSM, and look to change out the Zeiss Conquest with something like a Swaro Z6 (the 1.7-10 model) with a #4 reticle. That would give me about as perfect a whitetail rig for PA as I can conjure up in my head. Lots of whomp on the terminal end, plenty of reach for the areas I hunt, should be deadly accurate, tough as nails, and look pretty to boot.

That would be a rifle that could hunt in any conditions I'm willing to be out hunting in, be able to see to shoot at any legal time in any weather condition, and provide enough stomp to put the deer down fast. Deer crossing property lines before they fall is bad news here.

That's what I have in mind...

:)

Well, my 338/375Ruger is near the top of my list. I don't even have 15 rounds down it and it is one of my favorite rifles!

My next dream rifle will be a clone to Guys Green Machine but a 260 (or 260 AI, still having that internal debate) on a savage action. For some reason I like that rifle a lot. Main purpose for it would be fun at the ragne. Maybe a deer or speed goat here or there.

Deal, i will give you first dibs on it when i order the AI, you want it with or without the schmidt and bender?

My (classified) build will be here in about 2-3 months.  Hopefully sooner.

I can tell you it will be top of the line in every respect.

Well I am going to say the one that I am having built right now 8)
A 280 Ackley Improved made for the lefty
Krieger heavy sporter barrel 26" finished with a 1-9 twist.
Defiance 700 clone action with mini-16 extractor & teardrop bolt handle.
Timney trigger set to 2.5lbs.
Manners Hunter Elite stock EH-3 with the MCS-BDL mini chassis & 1" Pachmyer recoil pad.
H & S Precision long action clip system.
Zeiss 3-9 X 36 Diavari or Lieca 4.5-15 X 42 with Talley one piece rings and bases.

It is likely this old guys last custom so I hope that it will be a shooter

Blessings,
Dan

Had my "dream" rifle built once. It worked out great and I'm still happily shooting it 17 or 18 years and several barrels later. You guys have seen my "Green Machine" .308 Win.

Built by Jim Cloward, who was at one point or national 1000 yard record holder. Trued Rem 700 short action. 1:12 twist, 24" Krieger barrel, chambered with the 95 Palma reamer. Tuned Rem trigger, glass bedde McMillan stock. Turner sling. Badger Ord base @ rings.

It's a good rifle - a solid half MOA performer at 600 yds. It has served well!

You have me sweating bullets and thinking of how much trouble I could get myself into

Brian i would make the terms divorce proof. I just ordered a vectronics terrapin rangefinder today, should be interesting it says it will range out to 2400 meters??? I guess we will find out. I will post results as i get them.

I have a Terrapin and they will range further than 2400yds. They are pretty nice but hard to hold still because they fire on release of the button rather than applying the button.
