I am finagelling another deal on another 30-06! I just tonight found a nice, lightly used Kimber 84L . It has a camoed stock and stainless. I have plenty of other bullets, but I want to get a hot load for the 168 TTSX. My Kimber 270 is just too pretty to hunt much. (It's technically my grand-daughter's, I'm just playing with it. ) Can I get a good list of powders as I have several types that will work. It would "thrill my Soul" if I end up with a load that approaches 2900fps! :) Thanks, Rev Jim

Not at home now, to run Q/L...........but try the following.

55-57 H 4350
53-55.5 Big game

I just bought (another) 30-06 this week. It is a Ruger American rifle. 55.5 gr of Big Game gave me 2810 fps and .66" at 100 yards.

The 168 TTSX is a dandy in the '06!

Thanks so much! You know I like them on the "warm end"! I don't worry about compressed loads since I was "turned on" to the LEE Factory Crimp Die, oh yeah! :) Ha Well, the info gives me data I can always use later, if need be. 58.5/N560 ( I loaded up to 60gr, but not accurate.) gets the old 150NP a tad over 3K in my 270. I like the stuff! :) I like that RS Magnum too, even though I weigh every charge (tedious, yeah, but I get good results). I'm at a point where I have more Magnum Primers than LR. I really like the CCI BR2, but I got three duds a few weeks ago, bummed me out too. I keep my stuff high & dry and cool temps, so it ain't me, it's got me spooked.

I had some duds in CCI primers 35-40 years ago and quit using them until about 12 years ago and haven't had one since. So, I think it was just a couple of bad primers. Keep using them. If a dud shows up while hunting, just work the bolt. Fast:D. Dan.

I hear you Uncle Dan! ha I should get my Kimber 84L tomorrow. It has a 24" barrel so looks like I have several powders that might give me 2900! I'm jazzed about that, I don't mind saying it! :)

Picked up the Kimber, doesn't look used at all. It's a Hunter Model, but stainless and has the camo stock. It feels very lively in my hands, but very well put together. I had bought one in .270 several years ago that was a real Lemon. Poor workmanship, etc. Scope base holes were not threaded, bolt flopped around in the action. I finally got it sorted out, but it still was sloppy, sold it ASAP. This one seems OK....so far (fingers crossed)

After further inspection (eyeballing) , there is zero metal fouling in the bore and zero brass on the bolt face. No powder residue anywhere. It appears brand new! Sheboygin.

Thanks Brother Dan! Finally got my dies in (I had given my Hornady New Dimension Dies to a friend) and the Weaver rings. I think I have a half handful of assorted Barnes TTSX (130-150) to load for Break In. It's just so hot right now to be out shooting, ha.

Well, sold the Kimber w/o firing a shot! Darn medical bills, darn money flow, ha! That was awhile back. Just this week I put a reasonable priced Mod 700 ADL/270 on Layaway (10 mos!) ha And today I put a really nice, 1978 Mod 700 Classic/'06 on a short Layaway! Oh yeah! Along with my quest of the 84L Classic/'06 (which I settled for one in .270) I have always, always wanted a Classic in '06! They have been either too expensive if nice or affordable "beaters". At this stage of my precious life, I like the "Pride of Ownership"! Plus Brother Guy has always kept me stirred up with his exploits using his '06! lol :)
