Depending on your twist rate, your rifle may not be stabilizing the bullet fully. At the speeds you'd be able to push the 175 to in a 7x57 in a standard 1:9 twist barrel, Berger's calculator says that it's only marginally stable and should have a 1:8.25" twist barrel.

Thank you.
I pushed the speedup to 2580fps.
And the grouping closed nicely.
Thanks for the help on the twist rate.

You are probably right on the edge for stabilization. If you can't find your desired results, consider the 160 gr AB and the new 160 gr BT. Both have decent BC and great on game performance.

Woah! When did they release a 160?

I've done some work with the 150 gr. ABLR in three 7x57 rifles and haven't been able to get decent hunting level groups with them. At least two rifles have 1 in 8.25" twist rates. I thought those would be just about perfect for the 7x57 but so far they've been a flop. They do not shoot worth a damn in my .280 Rem. as well. However, I haven't given up yet. Just waiting for the cost of powder and primer to come down a bit

The 7mm 160 gr BT was released last year. I shot this doe with the 280AI and the 160 gr BT. DRT!
I think the 160 gr BT would be a great choice for your 7x57.

I wish I had known about it all this time, though I probably wouldn't have been able to find any for sale. I'll need to work up a load with them in my 280AI. What powder were you using?

I second what JD said. I'm a huge fan of NBTs and I don't think you could go wrong in your 7x57
