Hi all from Australia. This forum is a great resource, I am enjoying looking over the threads.
Wondering if I could have some Quickload data on the 340 weatherby please. I have a pair of these one has a 24 inch barrel and the other a 26 inch barrel. They are both built on Remington 700 actions in HS Precision stocks
Information is as follows.
250 grain Nosler Partition projectile.
ADI 2213SC powder
Federal 215 Magnum Primer
Norma case
Cartridge overall length 3.658 inches or 92.92 mm
Barrel length 24 inches and 26 inches both with a 1 in 10 twist
Thanks in anticipation

Sounds like a nice pair of 340's you have there. I wanted to get a 340 Wby but bought a 338 RUM when it was introduced. The 250 gr PT at 2900-3000 fps generates some serious HP and shoots pretty flat. The 250 gr AB is an awesome bullet, especially at those speeds.
The fellas who have QL should be along shortly.

I don't have AR2213SC in my data base. Here is the projection for H4831SC and for AR2213.

Perhaps you can use this data.

Might need to try another powder as I cannot get the velocities that others seem to be able. Does anyone have any load data using the same projectile (250 grain Partition) but with H1000 (ADI 2217) powder. Any input appreciated

Might need to try another powder as I cannot get the velocities that others seem to be able. Does anyone have any load data using the same projectile (250 grain Partition) but with H1000 (ADI 2217) powder. Any input appreciated
Don't worry about velocity, focus on accuracy. The 340 Wby will give you more than enough speed to deliver the goods near or far.

What were you getting for velocity? H1000 is getting too slow for 250s. I have good luck with Hybrid100V with Speer 250gr GS.

On my maximum load which is 83 grains of H4831SC I am getting 2780 fps with a 250 grain Partition. This load is max in loading manuals. It works well and I took a nice mountain got on a hunt in BC back in 2014 at 270 yards. I was hoping to get just a bit more out of it

A beautiful goat. While it was a decade ago, we'd love to hear about the hunt.

Beautiful Mt. Goat, congratulations.
Although your current load is decent running 2780 fps, trying a different powder like IMR 7828 should get your speed up.

Thanks for the kind words on the goat.
Here in Australia we do not have a large choice when it comes to powder. Most of our powder is ADI who supply Hodgon where it is sold under different names.
With the goat, we were hunting in BC, we saw him through a spotting scope a very long way off. It took 5 hours of very steep climbing to get to where we could look across a draw to get a shot at him. He was watching us and we had to wait until he presented to take a clean shot. I hit him in the chest and he staggered but was still on his feet. The guide called for another shot which dropped him where he stood. He then tumbled into a thick gut. I was hoping to get photos of him with a mountain view in the background but it was not to be. The guide wanted me to keep the rifle loaded with the bolt up as he was concerned about bears being attracted by the sound of the shot as they relate that to a kill. On the way out we had a grizzly bear footprint over our boot marks. The 340 weatherby cartridge is shown for comparison P1000115.jpeg

Yup, I've looked eyeball-to-eyeball with the goats, and I've more than once come across grizzly spoor crossing my tracks. British Columbia is a wonderful place, especially for the young who value the outdoors.

I was previously loading Alliant Reloader 19 which gave good velocities with the 250 grain Partition. We are unable to source this powder here in Australia so I was thinking to try ADI 2209 which is a possible alternative. Using the same parameters as above could I have Quickload data on the 2209 powder. Thanks in advance
