Yeah, that would be a sweet one to go along with Brandon's Featherweight 7mm Mauser..

Power to the seller if he can get that price. It would still be a sweet rifle to have.

I can't that worked up over a caliber which I can still find in several good brands of rifle (i.e. CZ500, Sako 85). If it was a pre-64, .257 Roberts, Super Grade like the one I sold several years ago, that would be different.

I have been looking at a finnlight in 6.5x55 for a little while when I spotted that one on gunbroker. I have been wanting one of those for a long time, however that final price is pretty outrageous in my opinion. I don't need it that bad, then again I was about to pay close to that for a sako.

Well, Sako's have been money in the bank. If that Winchester was a Pre-64 something rare, that would be a different deal. I have a Sako 85 in .338 Federal and am not worried about my money, despite this being an "off" caliber to some shooters.

Rare or not, that's nearing insanity. You're not far from Nosler Custom territory at $1800+. I can't imagine a simple factory rifle in a fairly plain stock being worth that much. But to each his own, huh? That's what makes the world go 'round.

Probably crazy, but then again, many in this world spend their money on crazier things and much more of it. Plus, most of the time, unless it gets crazy, you'll get your money back out of a Model 70, where as a custom gun, you'll probably always lose a few bucks..

I can't imagine there are a bunch of guys who would pay $1800+ for a New Haven Featherweight, even in 6.5x55. But again, it's all about the buyer and the seller. There only has to be one of each, and as long as they agree on the value, nothing else matters. I suspect the buyer on that one got hosed and the seller is laughing all the way to the bank, but that's just my suspicion.

Now, to stir the pot a little, I'll remind you that many, many Weatherbys are bought and sold for over $1500 annually. Many times that of the venerable 70...

There's a fool born every minute--many will even buy a Weatherby.

Many do!

 Mike, you should know, as Mark Twain once famously said,

'tis better to be silent and thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt!

The tongue gets even the strong man in trouble...but a 'bee can get him out pretty quick!

Very good, dubyam. Very good, indeed. I'm impressed, to say nothing of how I feel.
