Winchester...

That is a great cartridge, and the Winnie is a fine rifle. That one appears to have been in a somewhat moist environment, however.

That is a sweet honey. One rifle for the whole world!

I WILL have one of those one day, and probably a SS/Synthetic version as well.

That is a dangerous rifle to own.

Fall in love with it and you will never need another.

Seriously? Do you ever imagine ME with just one rifle? (Besides, I like my pair of 700 Classics .25-06/.35 Whelen too much for that to happen).

You can have one rifle. But then if something goes wrong you have issues. So you need a backup. And for some obsurd reason your backup has issues you need another backup. Then if you take a friend hunting without a rifle he needs a backup too. So I say 4 rifles is the minimum to having your bases covered.

Well like Jake said: I never, well since my twenties, had only one rifle. Since then, I had an elk rifle, a transition rifle, a deer rifle, a transition rifle and a varmit rifle. That is five and that does not include any of the Pre 64, Model 70's or Model 94 variants that I collected. In all, with shotguns in (4) gauges, it totalled over (24) guns. A happy medium of a number of Winchesters when you include the .375 Ouch & Ouch, Model 70. Enough to get by and do what I had to do.

"Transition rifle". I like it, Charlie! Let the rifle justification begin!

Wll, you have to have something like a 7mm Mag or .30-06 to transition from deer to elk etc. and a .257 Roberts or 6mm to transtion to deer from varmits! I took the transition rifles with me as backup rifles, on every hunting trip that was more the a day trip. Makes sense now doesn't it?

Oh, no, it made perfect sense when I first read it. More rifles! :)

That's the problem with such thinking! It makes sense to me! More rifles, indeed.
