That seems to be a good price. The X-Bolt is a fine rifle. All I've shot were acceptable in the accuracy department. I've heard quite a few complaints, but none substantiated. The only negative that I give credence is that they are relatively expensive compared to Remington or Winchester. I've owned a couple of Browning rifles, though no X-Bolts, and they proved dependable. If the chambering was something I wanted, I wouldn't hesitate to buy an X-Bolt.
LOVE MY 270 WSM X-BOLT. It shoulders and points and most importantly SHOOTS very well. I doubt you will regret purchasing one. That sounds like a nice price too. What caliber?
I have a couple, and they shoot real well. The rifle is light, trigger breaks like glass. Some don't like the polymer magazine, but it doesn't bother me a bit. I think they are one of the better buys out there.
The issue with both the late A-Bolt and the X-Bolt is that they are built in Japan and are expensive because of the really high cost of labor in Japan. Other than that, they are fine rifles.
...X-Bolt Hunter or Medallion??? Good (not great) price, NIB. Brownings are consistently accurate, good triggers, well made, excellent customer service. One thing I didn't care for w/ the X-Bolt is the position of the magazine release. W/ the Brownings (or Tikkas), you don't need a new barrel, trigger, & stock to have a good shooting new rifle..
...I gotta wonder where you gentlemen are looking @ Brownings, cause it sounds like they're trying to screw ya. MSRPs are comparable to Winchesters, Remingtons, & Savage models , that offer the same features, usually less for the Browning, Tikkas a little less, Sakos considerably more...
I bought one for my girlfriend in 7-08 . she's left eye dominant . lefty rifles are not as common as I had thought . this is why I bought a browning , they made what I wanted in a lefty . I did a load work up and broke in the barrel at the same time . I'm using a slightly reduced load of H4895 with a 120 ballistic tip , it shoots well . we haven't shot it much yet , but so far I'm very happy with it . the barrel is smooth not a problem with copper while breaking it in .the wood is nice , and the weight is good . I bought a nice scope from some guy on the nosler forum , I think he was from Oregon . I don't remember his name , maybe you do ? ha ha ha
That is a good looking rifle and it is got the bolt on the proper side.
I owned a 375 Hurt & Hurt in the Medallion for a number of years good solid rifle.
I have owned three A-Bolt Medallions, icluding a Micro Medallion. Browning has held their pricing very well. When I bought mine back in the mid 1990's, they cost about $200 more than a Model 70 or a Model 700 at that time, for a Medallion. This was the A-Bolt, the X-Bolt was not out then and has only has been out about 5 years. The A-Bolt did not hold value used as well either.
The thing that I never liked about the A-Bolt was the trigger. No matter what you did to it, it still had creep. It probably had a MIM's sear like the Weatherby Mark V which had the same problem. My understanding is that the X-Bolt has been redesigned to have a better trigger and the A-Bolt now is being discontinued.
Plus, I have never liked the appearance of the X-Bolt, nor the tang safety. They shoot well enough, it is other stuff like the trigger and looks that bothered me.
