I just won a match in casper wyoming last Saturday on the Q creek ranch in the Shirley mountains, Q creek is the largest contiguous ranch in the rocky mountains with 540,000 plus acres. First place consisted of a 3 day fully guided hunt with lodging and free taxidermy for the antelope. Prize package valued at $2500. Great match at a awesome facility.

Way to go, Jeff. That is a great prize. You earned it, no doubt. Great to read.

Jeff,

What are you going to use for your speed goat hunt?

First off, I won't be doing it until next year, no tags available until then. I will be using either my 6x47 or the .243 ackley. I sold off my bigger guns, I can't seem to get a tag for anything in montana and I see no reason to have a $6500 set up sitting in the safe most of the time. Either of the two will kill antelope as far as I am comfortable shooting them. Looking forward to it, I shot with some of the guides that work and they were all fun to be around. Going to be a great time at a great facility. There will be more matches at that location in the future, I will post dates. Not a big high pressure match just a bunch of guys shooting steel, one shot per target five targets per station and ten stations.

I was checking their website and impressed would be an understatement , they are proud of the hunts they have but I am sure they are all Trophy hunts ! Lotta history on that place as it was a combined total of a bunch of large Ranches!! Guess it's similar to Vermejo Park here in NM as it is not hunted heavy at all! Sound like an easy match and that would be really nice to get a Wapati hunt from them but that would cost me 6K as winning a match would probably not be in the cards! They would probably not offer that kinda hunt for a shooting match? Yep with what you have I think those speed goats should be in fear of seeing another sunrise!

I think he said they guide about three antelope hunts a year, I think getting a nice antelope is doable. I am looking forward to it.

G'Day Fella's,

USMC 89, congratulations on your great shooting to win this prize and best of good luck on your Antelope hunt!
And Wow, don't you just love Log Cabins!!!

Regards
Homer
