My Oldest - New Toy in 44 Special

Just received a Smith & Wesson 44 Hand-Eject, aka Pre-Model 24 44 Special.

Got this from a retired S&W Employee whom I call a friend.

The Production Date on this revolver is 1925 and it is well worn from carry, yet still solid as a rock.

This is the only 44 caliber firearm in my collection, and as my friend says..... it's a shooter.

That has a classic look to it, Mortis. Though worn from carry, it is a handsome gun.

Mortis, this one appears to have lived a harder life than yours, and is a .45 Colt. I suspect that it started life as a .455 Webley - but I'm not sure of that.

Looks like a 1917.... which used mostly 45acp in full moon clips.. altho it was chambered for 45 Colt.

I'll try to get my S&W Expert to take a look at the phot and see what he says. Expert being he retired from S&W as a revolver fitter/tester after 33 years.
