Anyone have the latest Gun Blue Book? I'm looking to see what they have to say about the value of the following handgun:

Colt Mark IV Series 80
Stainless
.40 S&W cal

These were a limited production item back in the 90's. They made 2500 of them, over a 2-year period. I know they've appreciated a fair bit since I bought it, so I'm thinking of selling and taking the cash.

If anyone has the latest Blue Book, I'd appreciate it if you would look that up for me.

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Brian, I looked it up online and it says it was made in 1992ish.

100% $995
98% $875
95% $725
90% $650
80% $575
70% $525
60% $475
Last MSRP was $813

Hope that helps.

Ron

Though I don't know the value of your pistol I do know they weren't sought after due to the reputation of the 80 sires. The 70 sires was much more sought after because it didn't have the safety bar and was easier to tune the trigger and get a good trigger pull. Those that bought them would remove this safety feature and convert them to a 70 sires.
1992 was also about the time the FBI adopted the 10mm and was looking for pistols to handle the cartridge which could have been the reason Colt added this feature to the 1911 trying to fix something that wasn't broken. With proper training the 1911 70 sires is still one of the best combat hand guns made and just as safe as any semi auto. JMO
