A new rifle will soon enter my safe and I am looking for the scope rail.
It will be a Savage Storm in 6,5 Creedmoor - short action.
Options are
One-piece aluminum - price ok
One-piece steel - price rather high. But since I hope the rifle performes well, not that much over the years...
Two-piece steel. Price ok...

I live in Germany, so I can't get all that's on the market on your side of the big pond.
The scope will not be changed often, but it will be a x56, so on the heavy side.

The rings have a steel cross-piece and I am a little worried of steel hitting aluminum during recoil.

Is the extra price for steel worth it or do I worry too much for a low recoil weapon?

I would like the ewg gunworks rail, but the importer's site seems to be down...

Unless you’re going to be doing very serious off roading, the aluminum is just fine.
