Don Getz, of Getz Barrels, passed away recently due to heart failure following issues with COPD.

I never availed myself of the opportunity to meet/talk with him at shows I attended, and now sorely regret it. By all accounts, he was a true gentleman and had earned enormous respect in the fairly tight-knit long rifle/muzzleloading community.

I know most folks here are more familiar with the more modern muzzleloading methods and firearms, but thought I'd pass along the info for any who would be interested to know.

Thanks for the information. He was a great one for sure. I always wanted one of his barrels to build a rifle on when I was building my own.

I would have liked one of his barrels also but the wait time was very long. I used to frequent the American Longrifles forum where he was a respected contributor.
The traditional community will mourn his passing.

The American Longrifle forum is where I learned of his passing, actually.

My custom rifle that's nearly done I believe has a Rice barrel on it, but the specs were chosen based on advice from Don Getz.
