I picked up my new-to-me 36-cal....a Berks County style "schimmel" in 36 caliber with a 38" swamped Getz barrel and a large Siler lock, made by Allen Martin. Not specifically for me...I'm the 3rd owner actually. But it fits like I commissioned it, and I've been wanting a Berks or Bucks gun in a small caliber, so this was perfect.

Hoping to get to the range tomorrow to get it sorted out, and then if there's time, to go torment the tree rats where I hunt.

Thank you! Allen makes a wonderful rifle. The little 36 is absolutely dwarfed by the 62.....but they both point and handle like a fine shotgun.

That looks great Tom and will make a good squirrel gun. You got to love that maple wood grain.

Shot it today.

25 yards during load workup. That's 3 shots (the uncovered holes)

This one is from 50 yards, offhand, aiming to hit the middle of the bottom edge of the red square. (Bigger holes are the flintlock....I was also shooting a 22LR). The grid squares on the target are 1".

It's looking good so far....

Looks good so far.

The frizzen is rebounding, so I have to work on that. And the sights need to be drifted a touch as well.

It's a fun little sucker to shoot, though!
