Has anyone here traveled to the Gates of the Arctic National Park, Alaska?

https://www.nps.gov/gaar/index.htm

Huge, remote, and apparently very much in it's natural state. I'm kind of toying with the idea of a trip there. Backpacking a bit, fly fishing. Hunting only with my camera.

Any input?

Thanks, Guy

Guy the closest I've been is Barrow. The country is remote that is for sure. I would wager the char and Grayling fishing would be off the charts.
My brothers Girlfriend works for Adfg. She was up there doing a study on the fish species last summer. OMG FANTASTIC. According to her. Logistics were a nightmare. Parks employees were a giant pain in the ass.

Ya, If I do this, am considering a float trip via raft or canoe instead of a backpack. If I time it right, there will be fishing every day, and I'll see a lot more country in 5 - 10 days of floating than backpacking.

I'm sure the Park Service is a problem. I often get the impression that they'd just prefer to lock away all the parks and allow no humans in them.
