Notice how they burry the moose. It's not uncommon to see them laying on top of those mounds of dirt and brush. Stretched out like a rug sleeping to protect it from other scavengers.

Interesting that they would tolerate each other, that second one in particular is extremely fat :) Did you take those pictures or did someone else? Thanks for posting them those are very good pictures.

FYI hitting enter after each picture will put them in order one on top of each other.

Either is definitely fat. It is intriguing how they know exactly where the photographer is, looking intently at him. I've watched grizzlies on several occasions with a moose. One, in particular, watched us the entire time he lifted the moose and walked backwards toward the woods, all the while fixing us with a baleful glare. We were a long distance from him, and he still knew precisely where we were. They are definitely top dogs in the wild.

I noticed that too, that's not something I would want to be doing knowing how aggressive they can get around a kill. Very cool pictures, I always think when they are so close to each other with their mouths open that they are really saying "my breath is worse than yours so get out of here, I win"

Awesome photographs and those bears are beautiful! Wow I would love to hunt one some day. Just to have that experience even if I never got one, but just to see one. (y)

The Bears are beautiful and the pictures are done very professional almost like a wild life photographer.
I don't think I would ever go just to hunt bear but they would be a target of opportunity if I had a tag for one.
Thanks for posting the pictures.

Once you've hunted bear, Rodger, you will catch the disease. They are a challenging hunt.

I hear ya DrMike. When I was younger I tracked a few black bear but could never catch up to them. I was so close to one that when I came upon a pile of dung it was still steaming. I turned around and head back the way I came because I felt uneasy and only had a Buck 110 folding hunter with me ( no gun ). Don't like being that close to something that will eat me and not have an equalizer.

Wow! Those are great photos. Thanks for posting! Looks like the photographer used a substantial telephoto lens, which is a good idea I'd think. My brown bear photos aren't nearly as good.

Going back in September though, and we always see bears, so maybe..

Guy

And to actually see the actual muscular control of every movement inspires awe. They are magnificent to watch.
