HJR1 removes Measure 5 and 50 limits on property tax increases. 20% increase on you property tax for union controlled education. Changes property tax to real market value instead of the current lower traditional assessed value. This bill if passed will raise a single home yearly tax by as much as $3300. Did you know the state is collecting more in total tax revenue than it ever has? They just can not control how its way over spent. Gluttons is what Oregon's Government has become. Dictatorships are like that though. Dig out that wallet, The Tax man needs every dollar in there. Heath Insurance? No you do not need the money for that. Johnny needs braces? Oh No the Tax man needs that money.

There is a cost whenever we live in a worker's paradise. British Columbia is part of the great left coast which begins in California and extends northward. One day, there will be a revolt by the "little people" who fund all these noble projects dreamed up by SJWs.

Sad. It drives people from their homes and property. Thomas Jefferson said the power to tax is the power to destroy. He wasn't joking.

Oregon has tried for ever to get the voters to approve a sales tax, its always been voted down. This is another end run, hopefully there will be an initiative to put this on the ballet next fall.

On a side note, my wife has a friend who has a very small house in the greater Seattle Area, it is a small house built in the 40's. She is not well off and has a loan on the house. Last fall she received her new tax assessment. She now pays more a month in property taxes than her payment on the house. As said earlier, she will not be able to afford the house once she retires. The sales tax there is nearly 8%, so she will be forced to move once she retires.

That is ridiculously wrong..Most of us work hard chasing the American Dream so that once retired we can enjoy the fruits of our labor in our final years, and have something to leave our children. Plain and simple; Anytime the government writes a check, it falls on the working folks to cover it, and make any sacrifices they deem "necessary" for their unchecked spending and closed door dealings. You'd think we'd have some measure of control with our votes on election day. But somewhere between campaigning and taking office, the elected officials switch teams. Just look at the huge omnibus spending bill that passed that nobody actually read. It'l be months before we know all the crap we're paying for (a lot of which most of us are diametrically opposed to) , and everything that we're NOT funding. This all gets swept aside by the (State Run) main stream media harping about gun control, Russian collusion, and porn stars 24/7. "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain". We have become the old mule that gets beaten every morning. Eventually assuming that's how it's supposed to be, and just take our beatings and happily trudge along pulling the plow. Sadly, we are plowing a field from which we will reap no harvest for our own benefit....Wow, I started this tirade a Deplorable, and walked myself straight into being a mule...
