Root beer is an interesting addition, Vince. Do you have a preference for a particular brand? I'm thinking of the variation in sweetness found in various Root Beers. I've used Coca Cola and Dr. Pepper in some recipes, but never root beer. Pulled pork makes an excellent meal; and that plate does look mighty fine.

DrMike,

I use A&W Root Beer [emoji482]

Vince that looks delicious, do you cook in Root beer or use it as a marinate?

Blessings,

I put BBQ sauce and root beer in the crockpot.

Got a fresh pork shoulder in the freezer might have to give it a try.
Thanks for sharing Vince.

I do pulled pork a little differently than you (on the grill instead of the crockpot) but usually braise with some kind of sweet liquid for a couple hours of the cook. After reading this, tried root beer as the braising liquid for our last pulled pork. Came out very, VERY good -- the root beer contributed to the best "bark" I've done to date. Currently have 2 pork shoulders on the grill for a New Years' party tonight, and will go with the root beer again. Thanks for the idea! (And Happy New Year!)
