There were 4 kittens in a dumpster where I park my truck. 3 of them I managed to catch and find homes for..The 4th one I could never catch, but I checked this evening and it looks like he found a family after all..Momma raccoon bailed out when I climbed up to look in.

Ha ha! Sometimes you run across strange neighbors in the wild. There was a female peacock around here for a yr or two running with and roosting with a flock of wild turkeys. She thought she fit right in. Seen her a couple of times and heard her and the turkeys roosting a couple times. Looked strange and sounded even stranger when she'd get to talking with the turkeys at roosting time.

Looks like our "Bob" cat.

Showed up out of the darkness as we were unpacking from deer hunting last November. Maybe 2 months old, he hissed at the dog and puffed up like a real tough hombre, then rubbed around our ankles. Checked in the morning and he was snuggled up with one of the laying hens in the coop.

Put out some food and tried to give him away. Came home from work a day later, and wife had taken him inside. Her, Bob and the dog were passed out on the couch. Guess we've got a cat now. At least he's entertaining and should catch mice in the old farmhouse. He already eats the boxelder bugs that are waking up on warmer days, and he's pretty good at catching the dog's tail when they're not curled up together on the couch. I don't think he got a lot of "cat" socialization. He's got the cat instincts, but "dog" mannerisms. They both greet at the door, beg for attention and food the same way, and he retrieves. He uses "dog" body language with his posture, eyes and tail, and vocalizes with little whimpers and growls instead of meows.
