257 Rob +P QL request

I think I am giving up on the 115 gr Bergers in my wife's Ruger #1, just don't think they are stabilizing.. Getting down to crunch time as we are going to Colorado next month for a Muley hunt. If someone could run me a QL for 257 Rob, 115 gr Nosler BT, and 110 Gr AccuBond, Norma MRP powder, 26" barrel, It would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at RL22 in the 257 Roberts.
M700 Classic long action 24" barrel
115 gr BT
49.0 grs RL22
Nosler case
Federal GM210M primer
COL is 2.955"
MV 3136 fps. ES 18. SD 9
.383" c/c @ 100 yards.
I am getting long case life with this load as well.
This load is safe in MY rifle so work up carefully.

With a CDS dial on the VX-3 3.5-10x40mm scope, 600 yard hits on the gong are easy. My daughter loves shooting this rifle, which I gave to her.
The 115 gr BT is all the bullet you need. ;)

MRP and 22 are just about the same so I’d expect they will act fairly similar. That’s a danged powerful load. I dig those 257 Roberts.
 
Interesting. My Ruger #1B .257 Bob is a half inch gun shooting Norma 100 gr. factory loads. Dunno when Norma dropped the cartridge but they still shoot good. Got five boxes of the ammo when I bought the rifle at a gun show.
My other .257 Bob is a Winchester M70 FWT and so far it doesn't shoot anything worth spit. TRies some 100 gr. Sierras and 2.5" is so far about the best they'll do. Tried some 120 gr. Speers but they were a total disaster. Maybe I'll try them in the #1. I know the 120's will shoot just fine in the #1B in 25-06 so they won't go to waste.

Thanks for the QL and advice. I have a 8lb'r of Norma MRP and it really shines with the heavier bullets. Looks like the Accubonds are out of stock again, but I will be at Cabelas in Lehi on Tuesday and they show that they have the BT's in stock. Berger says 1 in 10 twist on the VLD box, but I read somewhere that 1 in 9 is way better. Kelli's #1 is a 1 in 10. Whats the going consensus on seating the BT's.. .010 of the lands a good place to start or do they like a little jump? Still don't have any of my rifles ready for our hunt next month.. but I think my 7.65 is almost there showing some promise anyways.

Ballistic Tips should be treated as the cup-and-core bullet that they are. They will generally give you the best accuracy near the lands.
 
I would start at .010" off the lands, once a nice velocity / load is found, seat deeper if necessary to tighten groups.

It is indeed a powerful load. The energy transfer into a water jug is impressive.
