Doing better with lighter bullets in this one. I think the rifle will shoot the 40s better than the shooter.

Hello, I just wanted to share my 22-250 findings with you. I know every gun is different but mine prefers 50/52/55 gr. bullets in the 3350-3400 fps range. On the lower/mid velocity end of what a 22-250 can produce. I have a 1:14 twist with a 26" barrel. I just found a really good load with the 50 gr. Ballistic tips (orange tip) with 32.5 gr. of RL-15. I've tried 32.5 gr. of RL-15 with 5 different bullets (Sierra, Berger, Hornady and Nosler (2)) and my largest groups have been around .47". This confirms that my gun likes the slower end of velocity. I used to try to push the bullets fast and I would get "ok" results. Just my $.02 On what I've found.

Welcome aboard, Nanook. Always good to see new names cropping up in the posts. It sounds as if you have found a good load for your 22-250. You are absolutely correct that each rifle is an entity unto itself. Good that you worked out the key to accuracy for yours.

Any play with heavier bullets in the 22-250?

I have a mountain of 69g Sierra's and am having mine redone with a 1:9 bartlein barrel.

I shoot 75-77’s in mine exclusively. Love them. 3200-3300 is pretty normal...

As another 22-250 data point, my Tikka T3 loves 55 gr Sierra Blitzking and Varget. 3600 fps into a ragged hole at 100 yds.

I've been testing the classic 38.0gr H380 the past few weeks, using 52gr Nosler CC and 53gr Vmax. With the Vmax I got four in one hole and a 5th less than 1/2" away using WLRM primers. Non-magnum gave a bit larger group. I tried sweating depth and CCI200, WLR and WLRM with the 52 CC, all under an inch but nothing overly impressive. Still trying to beat 60gr Vmax and CFE223, but I picked up 10lbs of 380 so I'll make it work.

All shot through a Savage 12 Cabelas, 26" tube bedded in a Bobby Hart.

my 250 has 1-14 twist. shoots 5 shot .5" groups w/ nosler 40 grain tips over H380.
its a a Rem. w/ 26" tube. 4,029 FPS. it's a serious tack driver....lol
