The nearby Ace hardware store has these on sale half price so I bought a couple of boxes. I can't find any specific load data and since they are longer even than the 210 Noslers, I would like recipes for the Hornady.

Powders I have in the range for heavy -06 are R17, IMR4350,

(and some H450, N205, Be kind of funny to use powders from 1960's with bullets from 2019 in a gun made in 1928)

24" barrel Springfield

The range I go to has a 700 yard steel target that I have yet to try.

Probably seat them at full out at 3.34' like the longer Noslers seem to like unless anyone has found they like more jump.

Code:
Cartridge : .30-06 Spring. (SAAMI)

Mine shoots well with 51.5 gr IMR 4350. I have a Serengeti chamber, which has a tighter neck that SAAMI and the leade angle is also different. Long story longer, proceed with caution, start lower, etc. Also 54.5 of Superformance is a good load, in mine. Here’s Hornady info:

That bullet is begging for RL26. Bet you could get nearly 2700fps wth the 212 eldx.

Man until someone spots it in the wild I refuse to admit RL26 exists

Wow. That’s cooking! 2697 FPS 212gn pill in 3006.

Fightthenoise... where’s the wild for you.. I’ve found it in two gun shops in Mid Michigan... in both cases I asked them to order it and they got it.. took a couple weeks, but it came in.

Thanks dr Mike.

I’m going to print that recipe and put that in my 3006 binder. Don’t have 212. EldX, but if I did, I’d try to load it up.

I’ve just been watching the usual online outlets, but haven’t seen it locally. I have about half a keg I’ve been rationing. I’ll look into having someone order me some. I figured if the online folks didn’t have it the local shops couldn’t order any either but it won’t hurt to make my demand known

Thanks for the info.

Reloder 26---

At max 108% fill with this long bullet, do you think it will still fit in the magazine? I too have not seen rx26 on the shelves.

With velocity approaching 2700 fps and bc of .673 I might be able to keep up with one of those mighty creedmoor guns for a couple of hundred yards.

Just played with the Hornady Ballistic calculator and 2697 fps

250 yard sight in gives 300 yard point blank range (4")
1800 fps expansion to 750 yards
1000 ft pounds energy to 1075 yards

At close range, 2500 to 2700 fps should be okay for a cup and core, especially with all the mass for deer and elk.

I neck sized, used a drop tube and crimped. You might have to play with it.

I also used BR2 primers, considered mag primers to get better ignition.

I still haven't found any RX 26. I do have some IMR 8133 and some Retumbo. Could I get a Quickload that compares these slower powders with the H 212 bullets in 06 ?

RL23 might be decent as well as RL17 as well.

I switched from RL26 to RL17 in 30-06 for 178s and 200s not because I can’t find RL26, I have 9 pounds of it. The reason was I have to shove so much of it in the case and the load is so compressed that the soft ELD-X jacket gets dented during seating. I tried everything to prevent it, but finally just switched to RL17. It’s just as accurate and a hair slower but the case fill is much kinder to the ELD-X jacket.
