416 Taylor Improved?

Nice, should be perfect for whitetail deer ;) Seriously though that looks really good and is super cool.

Shot a five shot group today, while playing around fire forming brass. Finally shot up the rest of the factory norma brass today also. Along with some velocity ladders I'll post in a second.

This ladder was shot with the 350 mag tip, and reloader 15. Brass was 1x fired norma with just partial neck sizing.
73.5= 2466
74= 2458
74.5= 2469
75= 2465
75.5= 2476
76= 2482
76.5= 2502
77= 2517
All of these were shot over magnetospeed. There were no pressure signs or heavy bolt lift. Will proceed a little higher next time to determine max pressure or close to it.

This ladder was shot with 400 gr hornady DGX and IMR 4320 in 3x fired quality cartridge brass. This brass is fully formed, and sized just enough to have easy bolt closing.
71= 2433 ( no idea why this speed was recorded.)
71.5= 2376
72= 2392
72.5= 2379
73= 2401
All of these loads had easy bolt lift and zero pressure signs. I'm out of 400 gr bullets and will probably not purchase anymore. Will be focusing on the 350 mag tips from here on out. Next weekend I'll be taking 350 mag tip and RL15 up a few more grains in
.5 grain increments. I'm new to this finding max loads in improved cases, but so far seems to be going great. I may have started a little to low in charge weight, but better safe than sorry I guess lol.

Definately better starting low than having your primers falling out of the case...
Looking forward to seeing your results!

You got that right! I've blown a primer once before hopefully not again. Lol

It's coming along nicely! Would you be able to post up a picture of the round itself? It would be neat to see what it looks like.

Here is a pic Gerry. The loaded round on left is 2x fired brass. The brass on right is 3x fired fully formed and resized. The one on right has shoulder just a little bit more forward and slightly sharper shoulder angle. Dont know why it takes 3 firings for the brass to form enough for me to have to lube the cases to size. I can run factory taylor brass, 1x, and 2x fired brass without lube.

Thanks for the picture! Excellent speed and accuracy as well so far.

Continued up with the ladder today. Norma 3x fired brass. 350 speer mag tip with RL15.

77.5= 2576
78.0= 2550
78.5= 2610
79.0= 2593
No pressure signs on brass, bolt lift still easy. Prolly gonna call it quits for now. It's already more than enough for me.

This weekend I worked up to 81 grains of RL15 for 2620 fps with the 350 speer mag tips. Still no pressure signs. Believe I'm going to load at 78.5 gr for around 2600 fps.
