Got a rem 700 rebarreled to 7mm-300 wby from a guy to work on before hunting season. I've never worked with one but isn't it about identical to the STW? Was thinking of starting in middle range of stw loads for a starting point.

He gave me remington brass and I recomended 160 ABs over the partitions he was using. He was also using 7828 last time at 82g I believe but was having serious pressure signs on the brass and was splitting necks on few, from what I seen anyway. I recomended retumbo, but the store was out so I picked close 2nd choice of H1000. CCI 250 primers will light the fire...

Anyone with 7mm-300 wby out there or worked with one let me know and what I can expect. Barrel is 26" or 27" douglass xx, leupold vari x III 3.5-10x40.

I was thinking 3200 with the 160 AB would be about right with good accuracy, well see.

Maybe a QL prediction with H1000 and 160 AB would be helpful as well.

Thanks.

It looks as if there are a few other powders that may boost velocity somewhat, if speed is what you're looking for. I've been having great success with N570 is overbore cartridges.

Jorey,

Nice find.
I am thinking its a 7 STW with the Wby double radius shoulder.

JD338

Rem 25-06,
You are correct, the 7mm/300Wby is about identical to the 7STW. I shot and hunted with one for 12 years.
Mine loved 77 gr Reloader 22 (safe in that rifle) under 160 gr Partitions. Velocity was 3300 fps. Consistent
3/4" groups. I currently shoot a 7STW and it also likes 77 gr Reloader 22 under 160 gr AccuBonds. Velocity
is the same at 3300 fps out of a 26" barrel. Load data should be the same in these cartridges.

That is scootin a 160 right there! 3200 with a 160 AB!

If he is splitting necks with his cases, it might not hurt to anneal them. Soften them back up so you don't lose anymore cases. Takes about 10 minutes to do 40-50 cases once you get the timing down.

Post up some pictures of that rig. I have always wanted a Mashburn or similar 7mm. Too many Bob Hagel books..

Had a 257/300Wby and 7mm/300wby, find your load quick and don't do a lot of range shooting, saving your throat for hunting purposes. Your barrel life will not be long, so keep your rounds down. 257/300Wby throat was gone in just over 450 rounds and the 7mm/300wby was gone in just at 800 rounds. Outstanding killers on game but don't ware out the gun doing all kinds of load work like I did.

I'm shooting 82 gr of retumbo, cci 250s, and 160 accubonds in Remington brass. Mine is shooting .75-1" between 3300-3350fps. My rifle is built on an old sako action so work up slow

jdj, you may want to look at the .284 Baer similar to a 7stw improved but it uses a 30 degree shoulder and other refinements. my Smith in billings has built several and they shoot quite well. Redding makes the dies and should have them in stock.

I am using 81 grains of H-1000 in my STW. It likes the Barnes TSX for best accuracy. For the 175 PT it likes 77gr of H-1000 but this load is fairly mild.

I have a custom built Rem M700 with a 26 " Shillen match grade 1-9 twist barrel and it to is chambered in 7 x 300 Bee and i have only shot 20 rounds out of it to break in the barrel and fire form some brass ! - it shot 3200 fps with a MILD load of H1000 and 160 gr bullets ! I guess i should get at shooting it too ! RJ

Haven't got a chance to shoot yet but I started at 77g and went up to 81g of H1000 with the 160 AB. His barrel is 27" douglass.

Its not my rifle, just a friend of mines that wanted some good shells loaded up and sighted in properly.

I'm kinda excited see what it will do in comparison to STWs and my 7 RUM anyway.

Keep ya guys posted!

YES please do - i am interested in your loads -may save me some time and money with load development !

Cheers RJ

Decided to go with 81g of H1000 under the 160 AB. Was doing 3/4" at 100 yards, 3250fps. Put a 300 yard zero on it and that group measured 2.5" so she's ready to rock and roll.
