I was reading a q&a on a Redding die set. The bullet seater does not crimp.

Do I need a crimped too? Or should the neck size tension be adequate?

the only ammo I crimp are for my pistols . neck tension should hold your bullets in place , unless it's a big thumper . I don't crimp for my 338 lapua .

I would crimp all ammo for use in a tube magazine .

Thank you. I have been settling in on Redding dies. I will be netting my first bushing neck die. I was assuming the tension would be fine after.
The FAQ rattled me a little. I do have the Lee neck collect die. Not sure I like it or not. Used it one time and my groups were not as good as normal. Will try again this weekend.

Meant to thank you for the tube magazine reminder. I don't have a tube gun, but have loaded 3030 for friends a time or two.

I use the Lee FC die on all my rounds. I find that brass more often than not uncrimped, yields variable neck tension, so a crimp using this die largely evens out neck tension.
The result is closer ES with improved accuracy from more consistent ammunition.
But this assumes appropriate care has been taken with all other aspects of brass prep.
