I recently got a box of 160 grain Grand Slam and 175 Mag Tip bullets and am looking for info on which powders would work best with these combos.
I've got the Speer manual and I am considering a slower powder unless I hear of something diffeeent that has worked for somebody on here.

Not the same bullets but I've used IMR 4350 with 160 Accubonds from my 7x57 at 2750 fps. I could have gone a bit hotter but didn't see the need.

I've got a set of loads for the 7x57 using H4350 and the old style Speer Grand Slams. Just haven't gotten to the range to try them out. I did get some interesting results using IMR 7828SSC with the Speer Grands Slams in the .280 Rem. Good speed but I still have to tweek for accuracy. Again, just don't have the time and the fact the it's in 100 to 107 degree range outside does go a long way toward dampening my enthusiasm. The heat never used to bother me but this years? I dunno. Guess I'm getting old. Two sets of skin cancer hasn't helped.

Barrel lengths can make a difference in the 7mm's.

I'm running 24" tubes on my 280 Remington's and historically IMR 4831 has given good velocity and accuracy with the 160 grain Speer boat tails (have not used the Grand Slams) and 175 grain Nosler Partition. This year IMR 4955 is doing very well with the 175 grain Nosler Partitions and IMR 4831 has been adequate with Hornady 162 SST's.

With a 22" bore you might be better served with somewhat faster powders like IMR or H 4350 in the 280 Rem. Sierra's manual using a 22" barrel lists top velocities with a 160 grainer with 6 powders between H380 - H4831sc. 175 grainers reach top velocity with IMR 4831 and H4831 with IMR 4350 hitting top velocity as well.

I am unable to comment on the 7x57.

I think 2750 with 160 Grain would be plenty good medicine.

I did excellent with R17 with the 7 Mauser and 160 PTs. Was able to get 2800 pretty easily. I'd look at RL26 for 160's and 175's in the 280.. I think it'd be real impressive.

Just for kicks, I loaded them up with some Reloader 19. I also added a Lee Factory Crimp.

Looks good and 19 should work great with that 160/175. That's certainly a pounder of a combo.
