I'm strugling to find the sweet spot in my ackley. I fire formed some brass last night at the the end of the evening, and put all inside of a dime....

I been shooting RL22 and 150 Partition just shy of 3100

Fire formed with some old speer bullets and the made me look like I knew what I was doing..

So I guess the question is, does anybody have any secret sauce for their ackley that works well with 160's?

Thanks

Seems like most are using RL22 and 7828SSC with their 280 Ackleys and 160's. Some of them are reporting some excellent speeds as well.

I'd bet when the other Ackley shooters get on here they can feed you some of their pet loads.

60.5 RL26, 150gn ABLR, nosler brass, fed 210 primer. COAL 3.340. Muzzle velocity out of a 26 inch barrel 3013 FPS.

Could 3150 easy with that powder, but i like the accuracy 60.5 gns of RL26 gives me more than speed.

For my rifle, 61.0 grs R 22 with the 150 GR PT getting 3015 fps and .300" at 100 yards. Same load with the 150 GR ABLR gets 3100 fps and .6" accuracy.

I haven't had a chance to play with mine a lot yet, but with 140 gr. Partitions and IMR7828SSC I am getting 3230 fps and good accuracy.

Has anybody tried anything in the 160 category? That's what I'd really like to shoot, I hunt deer, elk and bears with the 150's last year and had great success, I just think I'd have a little more confidence with 160's coming down the pipe.

I havent yet but plan to. 150gn works so well on whitetails, i never felt the need to really step up.

I used Nosler data for 160gr AB and I used IMR-7828ssc instead of IMR-7828. Nosler does have data using R-22, might try that since you have it.
