.277 150 gr ablr

I played with them for a while and got some great results but they were not always reproducible. I concluded that you need to push them over 2900 fps to get them to stabilize at hunting temperatures. I used the JBM stability calculator.

http://www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jbmstab-5.1.cgi.

At that time I didn't have the newer powders. I now have Reloder 23 and 26 with which I can easily get 2900 fps. I plan to revisit the 150 ABLR with those powders. I think I can find a great combination with the Reloder 26 but haven't tried yet.

I believe 35 Whelen uses the 150 ABLR in his 270. He posted about a moose shot with it in the bullet test section. viewtopic.php?f=48&t=36335.

I finally got them to shoot, it could be the gun maybe. It a Mcwhorter 270 wby 1-10” and I shoot them at 3260 fps and they shoot half MOA from 200-600 yards which is the farthest I have shot the 150 ablr.

Has anyone has success with these in a 1:10 barrel for a 270 win?
I've read the dimensions/olgive are the same as the ballistic tip....only diff is the bonding.
I get great groups with reloader 22, 54 gr, 3.34 oal, rem or Fed primers.
1/2 inch at 100 yds. I have 2 guns that shoot the 150 gr NBT's well....a Savage 110 with a 1:10 twist and a VZ 24 with a wilson barrel.... it is also 1:10
Velocity and bullet kills like a hammer at 200 yds or less.

What powder and load are you using?

I never got them to perk real well in my 270 WSM but they shot bug holes from my Tikka 270 Win. Right now I have a 1-7.5 Krieger waiting on a Defiance action to show up but the plan is to launch the 165 or 150 ABLR from it. 270’s don’t get as much play but they aren’t exactly handicapped either.
