Hello. I’m looking for any suggestions for a 30-30 win load. I’m thinking it will be more for target shooting rather than hunting. Does anyone have any suggestions on some of their favorite loads?

From my Glenfield (Marlin) I enjoy practicing with:

170 gr Rem soft point, 29 grains of IMR 30-31. That's about a classic load for roughly 2,000 fps.

It's nearly a max load, but shoots well. I crimp the case mouth lightly, into the cannelure of the bullet.

For an awful lot of fun, consider a 150 gr cast lead bullet, over a modest charge of pistol powder, such as 10 grains of Unique, for about 1500 fps. They're fun to shoot, and very economical to load.

Regards, Guy

150 Sierra with 37.5 gr Lever evolution

2440 fps and around .85" in my 94 30-30

170 grain Sierra Flatnose SP
26.0 g 4320
WLR Primer
Remington Brass

5 shots 13/8 at 100 yards with my Marlin 30-30

From an old Lyman manual accuracy load

Killed lots of hogs with this load.

IMR3031. Classic 30-30 powder. I’ve also done well with A2460 and lighter bullets. 4895 works for just about any rifle, and particularly well for 30-30
