need some quick load help for 7-08 using 162gr hornady btsp, r-p cases, rem 9 1/2 primers, seated at 2.840. Thanks

Thanks Dr. Mike, reason why I asked I got some data from a fella they were using 44-45gr rl26 with 162 using Lapua Brass and was getting 2720 out of 22 inch barrel he was using 162gr eld-x. But with this info he is 2-3 grs under min load data. I tried 44.5gr and it showed a lot of promise. But it looks like I need to start around 49.0grs of rl26. I'm open to any suggestions

I'd start around 49g and work up from there. I was also going to say, I doubt you'll be able to get 53g in a 7/08 case. You may need a good size drop tube... Let us know how it turns out! A 162g at 2800fps from a 7/08 is up there. I would quit once you get around the 2800fps mark, regardless of how many grains you're using. Velocity is a direct correlation to pressure. Your buddy's loads of 45g at 2725fps seems pretty fast according to QL, with that charge, it would be running in the low 2300fps range...so you may want to start a bit lower than 49g...Just my thoughts. Do a quick ladder/velocity/pressure test.
 
I m very curious to see more info on any R26 results with heavy bullets in 7/08.

I m.currently shooting 47.2 grs H4350 with 162 AMax and oal of 2.90. Velocity right at 2700-2710 FPS out of 24” barrel. QL showing another 100 + FPS with R26!! I m pretty confident that I can get 49 grs of slightly more in my WW cases due to my long oal.

Pls keep us updated if you ve got results; I noticed that this thread started a long time back.
 
52 grains and a 162 eldx got me bright, shiny ejector marks and 2730 FPS from my Tikka. Easy bolt lift, though.

I get 2790 with the 150 eldx using 46.2 grains of Big Game. Doing the math, there’s very little difference until I get past 700 yards, which is waaaaay beyond my limit.
