My money's on a broken scope too. Or maybe loose mounts. Always hedge!
First try with some 175 ABLR in a 7x57.
Not a great grouper anyway but never this bad.
Will try some different ammo tomorrow.
I read the Ruger 77 has a fast twist so some heavier bullets at a reduced speed might work well.
So far I have the best (albeit not great) luck with 150s. They have worked well enough to take a couple of deer.

I had similar (almost as bad) last year when I changed the scope on a rifle. I stayed at it for a couple of days changing components etc, nothing worked until I tightened down the scope, then all got better fast.

Hay that looks like the way that the complete upper in 6.5 Grendel for an AR 15 I got from Bear Creek Arsenal shot. I am not kidding. It shot all over the place no matter what ammo I tried. I sent it back to them and they put another barrel on and after over 100 rounds down the tube I have got it shooting under 1".

So not the scope. Shot some more ammo and results are similar to what it always has been which isn't great anyway.
