3006 165 bt on elk

Does anybody have any pictures of a recovered 165BT from elk or from large mule deer please post them

Fotis, I never found the 165 gr Ballistic Tip that I shot into the shoulder of the cow elk at 338 yards. It went through the shoulder blade, destroyed both lungs and obviously hit & messed up the off-side shoulder, but I never did find that bullet. I suspect it went out with the lungs when I was field dressing the elk.

I do have a 165 BT that went lengthwise through most of a mule deer, front to back, from about 140 yards.

And one that I put through a good length of black bear, from 325ish yards. That one shed the core, the core exited, the jacket was hung up in the hide.

All those were fired from my 30-06 at above 2900 fps. Here's a link to the thread containing photos of the two recovered bullets and their weights.

I shot a couple Elk with the old version of the 165gr. It was not as effective as I wanted. The new version being tougher might work better.
