Thank you DWH but I am a little confused, Nosler book shows 83g of RL 22 as max so I started with 83g of 26 which only chronyed at 2804 fps. So it looks like that is still way under pressure. What would the unadjusted quikload have projected? Thanks. By the way rifle is a MARKV with .378 freebore.

Yes that is closer to my chrony readings, 85g went 2850 and 87g went 2940 fps. I like to run my MARKV's up to Wby's factory loaded pressures which I believe are around 63000 psi. My cases hold 99.5g of water.

As of now it is 3.710, that gives me about .050 clearance in magazine box. I have not shot these for group yet, waiting for rain to stop. So far this rifle has only liked 210 partitions.

COAL , measured off the tip is an important input for quickload .

what chrony are you using ?

I stumbled into a little info I've been playing with . just to see how it makes things line up .

great .

would you double check a couple case water capacities ? you want to weigh a fired unsized case . then fill it with water , until the water is flat with the top of the case neck and weigh it again . the difference is the water capacity . I use a child's medicine syringe for filling the case with water . if you get a little bubble on top of the case , just touch it with a paper towel ,it will absorb it right off .the reason I'm asking your 99.5 grain capacity is less than quickload has as a default , I usually see my capacities more than what's listed .

Nothing much to add other than that 340 is a beast with 250’s. Can’t imagine much it wouldn’t handle with the 250 AB at 2900-3000. That’s a wicked combo.

Jimbires: I don't have any unsized brass until I shoot again. I weighed some new 20 year old brass against some newly purchased and the new old weighed 224g vs. the new at 227g. They both held 99.9g of water. I can't weigh a case full of water on my 50 year old balance scale without it tipping over.

this should be a max load . work up to this , and use caution . you might not be able to reach this powder charge . quyickload has the 340 WBY rated at 63817 PSI . this load yields 63723 PSI
**** MAX *** 87.8 gr . quickload 3013 FPS . I'll guess your actual velocity will be about 2970 FPS .

thanks Jimbires: 88G WENT 2974fps and 89g went3037, I shot the 87g load and shots 2 and 3 were touching 1& 1/4 inches from 1st shot. I shortened up oal to 3.690 and will try the 87g load again tomorrow weather permitting.

88.0 gr actual velocity 2974 FPS .... quickload 3020 FPS difference of 46 FPS
89.0 gr actual velocity 3037 FPS .....quickload 3054 FPS difference of 17 FPS

85.0 gr we had a difference of 68 FPS , now 89.0 gr we have a difference of 17 FPS . the other powder charges seem to be about 45 FPS difference . I like to see things line up across the whole range , it makes me have more confidence in the info . just watch for pressure signs , and use commonsense .

Dewey , it's been brought to my attention that I stepped on your toes . that wasn't my intention when I got involved in this thread . if I did I'm sorry .
