OK, I still need some QL data for the Barnes 225 TTSX; I do not believe the Barnes Load data shows loads that crowd 65K. I am looking for data for 64K-64500 from a 24 inch barrel with Cold Temp Stable powders. I'm not worried about the summertime, just winter. You can throw in R22 as many in 338 users in Alaska seem to like it just fine. Thanks. I really appreciate it. :)
 
I use RL17 in my 338 Jim. Works to the tune of about 2950 for the 210 Swift and about 2900 for 225 Partitions. I don’t have too much need for much else. Fits well and gets excellent speed.
 
Do you find R17 to be pretty temp stable, say, between 80 deg and 0-10 deg?
 
It’s worked fine at 80-90 and then down to 20-30’s Jim.. I’m not sure how it stacks compared to H4350, but it works for me.

That's encouraging! :) I just never loaded a 225 "anything" and really don't know what to realistically expect, as far as speed goes. It seems most folks are getting between 2900-2950. In our Fall elk hunt, it can get pretty warm sometimes. I'm trying to get away from a cold weather/hot weather 2 load situation.
 
More normal speeds for the 225 would be 2800-2900 I think Jim. Some get a bit more but that’s really putting the coal to it I’d think.
 
2800+ will definitely work for me, especially since I don't shoot at unwounded game past 375 or so. I did "one time" shoot past my comfort zone. I had a 6mm/284 with 90 NBT and I let a friend goad me into taking a shot at a doe antelope ( antlerless hunt) a tad over 500yds. We were up high on a bluff and she was on the prairie floor. The wind was making a big ventura because my shots went over/under/left/right and she just stood there the whole time, ha. I stopped before I gut shot the poor thing, fussed at my goofy friend ( he thought it was hilarious!) went around the bend and shot one at 150yds. My "average" on elk is 190yds. BUT, I like to ease down game trails/edges in the black timber and I like a load I can hammer him on a steep angling shot. I also like to shoot big gnarly hogs, and sometimes they run at odd angles too!

I know it goes against the 338 a bit but you don’t give up much with the 200-210’s at 2900-3000. I’m not a LR shooter on elk so I like the little extra extended mid range the faster Bullets give me. Either way, 2800 with a 225 is a lot of juice. I’d imagine you’ll be closer to 2875-2900 with them if you’ve got a good barrel.
 
Jim in my M77 It likes a healthy charge of R17 and 210PT running right around 3023fps out of a 24" barrel.
 
I load IMR4350 for the 225 PT @ 2,930 and the 210 PT @ 3,060 form a 24" tube. Just love the .338WM !
