My first try will be the 265gr ABLR in my 338x28Nosler. Looking for second bullet to try. It'll need to be a tough bullet with a good BC. This combo will be my #1 rifle I take on my elk hunt this year.
Thoughts?

Scott,

The 250 gr AB is a tough bullet and with a .575 BC, it would be a good one. The 250 gr PT wouldn't be a bad choice either.

Just curious about how much more velocity you get out of the 338X28 over the standard 338 Win?

Quick load says I should be running that 265gr ABLR about 2800fps. Pretty spot on so far with several other wildcats. It'll be pretty close to edge and Rum speeds. The 338Wm about 2500-2600fps.

The 250 AccuBond seems like the best deal going in the Nosler line, good BC and Partition tough. Maybe not the flattest shooting bullet but folks seem to crumple everything they point em at.

Basically almost 338 Rum and based on barrel length can be identical.
