Will be shooting this bullet from a 7-300 Win Mag at a MV of 3000fps into milk jugs filled with water at 50 yards in the morning. Impact velocity should be about 2935fps. Get an idea of how they hold up at close range. My guess is probably the 4th jug with around 35% weight retention and jacket/core separation. Stay tuned...

As promised here is the bullet. Shot at only 25 yards, I changed my mind. Bullet was found in 3rd jug, dented the 4th enough to leak. Jacket/core separation. I'll get a weight when I get home, but the expansion was massive as expected. Thinking it's going to be a great LR big game bullet out to 1200 yards...

works for me.... for long range
my proof research 28 Nosler spits them out at 3200 but I decided to keep it under 3100 to save barrel life.

I’ve chosen this bullet as my do-all bullet in a 280 AI. Muzzle velocity is 2815 FPS using RL23 and it carries 1800 FPS to 1000 yards. I’m thinking with the lower muzzle velocities the risks of a failure at close range is minimal, or at least comparable to an ELD-X

Nice Fotis! Yah I think it's a plenty good bullet for big game hunting. Others may disagree, but it works for me. Most of my shots on big game are 300+ anyway, and this is where this bullet will start to shine and open up beautifully, while still giving adequate penetration between 600-1200 yards. You dont want or need a tough bullet at LR where impact velocity is 1500-2200fps

Looks pretty good Jorey.

I’ve kinda thought a quick twisted 280 with room in the magazine for the 180 ELD might be some sorta wicked. Especially on a lighter platform you could pack.

Yup! I do have my 700 KS 280 mountain rifle with a 24" tube for a packing rifle. Not exactly sure of the twist, but I know it shoots the 160-162g TMKs and AMAXs pretty good so I'll probably just stick with them out of it. Have lots of mag room in the 700 for the 280, easily reach the lands and still be a repeater.... I still have like a 1000 of the old 162 AMAXs I bought for my 7-300. Just need to get a 1000 or so of the 180s for the 7-300 since I made the switch lol.

Those custom shop KS 700's are the nicest rifles Remington ever made and I love how much room the long action 700's have too. Would love to find a lefty 280 like yours.

The 180 gr ELD-M looks to have done well, I'm curious as to how something like the 175 gr ELD-X would compare to it? Must have a heavier jacket at least. Curious about the Sierra TMK vs TGK as well.

Well I happen to have some 160g TMKs, 162 ELDX and 175 ELDX I can shoot into some jugs if you'd like?...Just need to start drinking more milk I suppose. Kinda hard when I'm lactose though :) haha Only took me a year to save the 6 jugs I had! I have 2 left from today, I figure 6 will be enough to stop most lead 7mm bullets from previous tests with 160g AB, so I only need 4 more to do another test. Which would you like to see first? And I agree on the KS 700s, they are damn nice rifles and shoot really well for a factory rifle...Heres the first 10 shots from my 280 with the 160 TMKs and H4831 during the ladder test.

Ha ha I love all bullet tests so if you are going to subject yourself to milk you should decide  Those 175 gr ELD-X might be good as the next test since it is so similar to the 180's you just tested.

Sounds like a plan! Guess I could always drink more water, but I dont like it much haha. I was thinking the 175 eldx as well, since it is close to the 180 in BC. It is actually a slightly longer bullet, due to jacket thickness. I'll keep ya posted!

I’d like to see that one myself.

That’s a Remington I wouldn’t turn away.

I’d be very interested in a test of the 175gr ELDX. I have some I’m going to try in a rebarreled 7mm RM. Should be getting the barrel any time. It’s been on order for A couple months.
